Contents PageThe contents page sticks with the house style, possibly meaning that the rest of the magazine does to. The colours of yellow, red black and white are all neutral so they would fit in anywhere

The colours of this page stand out against each other, making it very easy to see and read for the audience and will attract their attention straight away. In addition to this, the titles on the contents have a similar look to the masthead which tells them that it is something important

Because the colours stand out, readers will easily be able to find the article they want and navigate to it, also brings their attention to other articles making them more interested in the rest of the magazine.

The main image uses direct mode of address to grab the attention, as well as a band which the readers will know. The main image also has the figure of an extra person standing with the band with the text “THIS COULD BE YOU!” in the middle, hinting at the possibility of the band recruiting or the opportunity to spend time with the band which will excite the audience and make them want to find out more

The contents page also has a small subscription ad at the bottom of the page, although it is small the house style colour scheme is still there and makes it stand out for the audience to see. Despite the fact the audience are already reading the magazine, Kerrang are set on encouraging its audience to subscribe even though they have already been successful in grabbing the attention of the chosen audience

The colour scheme for the main image is generally dark with some contrasting colours, like skin colour on the dark background and the red and white text against the dark background. These features attract attention due to the size of the image, size of the text and the fact it contrasts with the rest of the page.

Double Page Article This double spread article continues to follow most of the house style colours of black, white and yellow. This makes the magazine flow better, instead of having random colours on each page that don’t follow a specific house style.

The main image uses direct mode of address to make a bond with the audience, and grab their attention as they first see the page. The main image is also of band member that is likely to be well known by the intended audience therefore making them want to read on and find out all about the article based on that band or person.

The main text is large and contrasts well against the background, while still keeping to the house style colours and due to the size is easy to read. What the title reads makes for interesting reading for the audience, by adding a sense of drama and uncertainty to the band, fans will want to read on to find out exactly what happened because the title is a cliff hanger leaving them wanting more.

Finally, this double spread article is entirely covered in one image as the background, with layers of text on top of it. Also, the main image is layered so it is in front of the border, adding dimension and a more professional look to the page. The very first thing most people will see on this page is the main text, especially as they turn the page from previous articles it is the first thing that comes, possibly meaning the text was strategically placed in order to grab attention. The other thing people are likely to see first is the main image, simply because it is a big stand out object which is hard to miss.
