15
At the weekend Olivia and Lucy sometimes visit their grandma. Grandma is their dad’s mother.
She has an old house with a nice garden. It’s Saturday at eleven o’clock.
Grandma: Let’s go shopping, girls.
Olivia: Good idea, Grandma.
Grandma: We can ride our bikes.
Grandma has a new bike. It’s red and blue. It’s a birthday present and she likes it.
Now Grandma and the girls are at Mrs Black’s supermarket. They want to buy some food
for the weekend.
Grandma: I want to make a chocolate cake with you. We need some chocolate.
Olivia: Look, here it is, Grandma.
Grandma: Thank you, Olivia.
Lucy: Grandma, can we watch a DVD in the evening? Here are some nice DVDs about pets.
Grandma: OK, Lucy, we can buy one. But let’s see what we need for our pizza first.
I want to make the pizza on Sunday. And we need tomatoes and cheese for it.
Lucy: Great! Pizza! The cheese is there, but where are the tomatoes?
Olivia: Ah, here they are.

Lucy: Oh, no! Grandma, look,
there’s somebody with
your new bike! Hey! No!
Grandma: Stop! Stop! Help me,
please.
Mrs Black: Sorry, Mrs Fraser, please
don’t worry. That’s Tom.
He helps us at the super-
market. Can he use your
bike for a moment? This
way he can get that man.
The man is a thief1! He
has our DVDs! This isn’t
the first time this week.
35
Later Tom is at the supermarket – with Grandma’s bike and the DVDs.
Mrs Black: Thank you, Tom, for the DVDs.
Grandma: Thank you for my bike. Now we can buy the rest …
Lucy and Olivia: … and have a big pizza and watch a new DVD!
Grandma: Tom and Mrs Black, please come to our pizza party on Sunday.
Tom and Mrs Black: Thanks for the invitation.
