+Key Terms:
n Governance – the exercise of authority to implement rules and policies in an effort to bring order to the social, political, economic, and judicial processes that allow a society to develop.
n Good Governance - a process that is informed and to a degree monitored by, and ultimately serves, all members of society. It refers to a level of accountability and transparency, both of which help to ameliorate the risk of corruption, abusive, and otherwise destabilizing practices.
n The State - a sovereign, self-governing political entity whereby institutions exercise authority, makes and implements policies, provides services to its population, maintains order, and is able to wield a monopoly over the means of violence.
