Without hesitation, he offered to cover her shift on Christmas Day so that she could be at her husband’s side. Bob reminds us that our work family is our family. 1095-C Tax Receipt

In the coming weeks, you may receive a tax document called the 1095-C that will contain detailed information about your healthcare coverage if you were eligible in 2018. While you will not need to include your 1095-C with your 2018 tax return, or send a copy to the IRS, you may use information from your 1095-C to help complete your tax return. A 1095 form acts as a receipt of “proof of insurance” for the IRS. As with any important tax document, you should keep your 1095-C for your records. You may reference your 1095-C to attest that you had insurance coverage when completing your taxes for the 2018 tax year.

K VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove Scholarship Opportunity

The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Hanover and Spring Grove is excited to share that the annual application process for the Florence deHaven Stick Memorial Scholarship is now underway. The scholarship honors Florence deHaven Stick, Hanover’s first visiting nurse. The scholarship fund was established by the VNA in 1982 and funded by a bequest from Dr. Edward W. Stick as a memorial to his wife. The VNA is seeking assistance to spread the word to deserving students living in the areas surrounding Hanover and Spring Grove or in any part of Adams County. Scholarships in the range of $4,000 to $5,000 will be awarded by the VNA to students enrolled in an accredited nursing program or accepted for classes beginning in the fall of 2019 for a career as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need, academic performance and extracurricular activities. Scholarships are offered to both graduating high school students and post high school applicants. Completed applications are due back to the VNA by March 15, 2019 and may be obtained at www.vnahanover.org or by contacting the VNA at the numbers listed. LeadingAge PA Sponsoring Education Scholarship Program

LeadingAge PA is pleased to announce an education scholarship program to benefit staff of LeadingAge PA members who are pursing further education, training, and certification opportunities both within and outside the field of nursing. For 2019, the LeadingAge PA Education Scholarship Program will award $27,000 in scholarships as follows: Nursing: Awards of up to $1,000 each will be given to applicants of varying career levels who are pursuing a certification, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in the field of nursing.

Non-Nursing: Awards of up to $1,000 each will be given to applicants of varying career levels who are pursing a certification, associate’s, bachelor’s, master's, or doctoral degree in fields other than nursing. LeadingAge PA is pleased to be able to offer these scholarships as part of our ongoing efforts to address the workforce challenges our members face. These scholarships would bot be possible without the LeadingAge PA members who selflessly volunteer and serve on the Scholarship Task Force and Selection Committee. The application deadline is March 1, 2019. In order for applications to be considered, they must be received by this date. The total number of scholarships awarded for each category will be based on the number of applications received. Award decisions will be announced by April 15, 2019.
