Design and ConstructionDeZURIK Cast Knife Gate Valves (KGC) aredesigned for on-off and throttling applications.They feature a cast body in 304, 316 or 317stainless steel. The gate material is 304, 316 or317 stainless steel. The packing gland is stain-less steel for corrosion protection or coatedcarbon steel for noncorrosive service. The stemis stainless steel. The yoke is available in 316stainless steel for corrosive service or carbonsteel for noncorrosive service.

KGC Knife Gate Valves are available in sizes2–36" (50–900mm) with metal or resilientseated versions.

A variety of actuator options are availableincluding handwheels, chainwheels, bevelgears, levers, pneumatic and hydraulic cylindersand electric motors. A full complement ofaccessories is also offered.

One-Piece Cast, CorrosionResistant BodyThe heavy duty, cast body provides corrosionand abrasion resistance on the toughest liquidslurry and dry material handling applications.

Cast Gate Guides and JamsThe cast gate guides at 3, 9, and 12 o’clockprovide support for the moving gate and won’tbreak off like welded guides. Cast gate jams atthe bottom of the body hold the gate securelyagainst the seat to assure positive shutoff. Allvalves are rated for full reverse pressure in theclosed position.

Lug BodyRaised-face body has drilled and tapped lugs inaccordance with ANSI Class 125/150 dimensions.

High Flow CapacityFull, round port design allows high flow capacityand minimum pressure drop. DeZURIK’s KGCvalve seat I.D. is equal to the I.D. of schedule40 pipe.

Radiused Stainless Steel GateProvides Superior SealGates are available in 304, 316 or 317 stainlesssteel for corrosion resistance. They have aprecision ground finish on both sides to preventpacking and seat damage. The beveled knife-likeedge pushes aside or cuts through solids in theflow stream. To increase packing life and providea superior seal, the gate edges are rounded.

Low Rim-Pull ForceA strong investment cast clip complementsKGC’s robust construction. More threads perinch on the manual stem mean this valverequires lower handwheel rim-pull force.

Packing System EnsuresLong-Life SealDeZURIK KGC Valves have a unique packingsystem that ensures a long-life tight seal withminimal packing gland pressure. The packingsystem is available for general, moderate,severe and high temperature applications.The machined packing chamber and an anti-extrusion ring form the base of this system.The system is completed by careful selectionof the packing material. The temperature, pH,and media properties will determine the mostsuitable option.

Seat OptionsBoth metal and resilient seated valves areoffered in a full, round port design. The integralmetal seated version is available with shutoffcapability exceeding current TAPPI TIS 405-8and MSS-SP81 standards.

Resilient Seated ValvesResilient seated valves are available forapplications where drip-tight shutoff is required.Unlike valves which use an o-ring seal, DeZURIKKnife Gates have a resilient seat designedespecially for knife gate valve applications. Theresilient seat material is bonded into a stainlesssteel seat ring. When the valve is closed, thegate is pushed against the seat and held in placeby the gate jams. When the valve is open, thegate moves away from the seat, allowingoperating clearance, which prevents seatdamage and makes operation easy.

A variety of resilient seat materials are available.Options include chloroprene (CR), acrylonitrilebutadiene (NBR), chloro-sulfonyl-polyethylene(CSM), fluoro rubber (FKM), off-white chloroprene(CRW), and terpolymer of Ethylene, propyleneand a diene (EPDM).

V-Orifice Design for ReliableThrottling ControlA metal-seated V-port design is also availablefor reliable throttling control of thick slurries— including paper stock. The constantV-orifice is maintained from open to closedto prevent bridging or plugging and to ensuremaximum control accuracy.
