Email K.I.S.D. High Schools have joined together to form an Ice Hockey team through the Dallas Stars. The games start in October and end with play-offs in April. Most games are played at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Euless and the Nytex Sports Center in North Richland Hills. There will be two teams consisting of 20 players per team: 20 varsity and 20 junior varsity. Try-outs are held in September and members selected are required to meet the GPA and citizenship standards as in any other high school program. Basic knowledge of ice hockey is helpful but not required. Ice hockey is not a U.I.L. sanctioned sport and is not funded by the school. Players must provide their own equipment and pay for ice time.

On the Junior Varsity level the emphasis is placed on hand-eye coordination, and strengthening the fundamentals. On the Varsity level the emphasis is placed on technique, fine-tuning, and competitive play. Some playing experience is necessary and head coach’s approval is required prior to enrolling.

The Keller High School U.I.L. Academic team consists of students in various academic areas competing for the University Interscholastic League titles. Academic areas include Speech, Debate, Journalism, Computer Applications, Accounting, Computer Science, Ready Writing, Literary Criticism, Science, Mathematics, Calculator, Number Sense, Spelling, Social Studies, Current Events and the One-Act Play.
