Create an app to change the perception of a behaviour.The main solution game�es a problem in orther to make people aware of a simple energetic and economic issue: closing the windows in the hallways during the day can save money and reduce emissions of the “NAVE”.

Assumptions:- 14 windows per hallway of 1 m^2 each = 14 m^2- However, they are not opened all the time, we assume that have of them is alwaysopen. Therefore A = 7m^2- Opening time of the windows is 6 hrs spread over the day.

Volume of cold air in cm^3 = 1000 * 10^6 cm^3A = 7m^2h = 6 hrs of opening time.

V = 1000*10^6 * 7 * 6 = 4,2*10^10 cm^3

Q = C * ∆T * V

C = heat capacity of air ("typical room conditions" = 0.00121 J / cm^3 * K)∆T = temperature di�erenceQ = Energy in JouleV = Volume of the cold air in cm^3

Assumptions :- Typical room conditions apply, therefore C = 0.00121 J / cm^3 * K- The temperature di�erence during the day stays the same and is the di�erencebetween average winter temperature in Milan and the room temperature.

C = 0.00121 J / cm^3 * K∆T = 24-6 = 18 °C = 18 KV = 4,2*10^10 cm^3

Q = 0,00121 * 18 * 4,2*10^10 = 914760000 J

1 kWh = 3.6 MJIn our case:914760000 / 3.6 * 10^6 = 254,1 kwh

Cost of 1 kWh in Milan, Italy: 0,09133 E254,1 * 0,09133 = 23,21 E

When the windows are closed some heat loss happens as well. We need to calculate this to seethe di�erence.

Heat loss formula: Q=A*U*∆TA = Area of open windows in m^2U = Heat loss coe�cient in W/m^2 * °C∆T = Di�erence in Temperature. (Tinside-Toutside)

Assumptions:- The windows are typical old double glazed windows

A = 7m^2U = 2,5 W/m^2 * °C∆T = 18

Q = 7 * 2,5 * 18 = 315 W

Windows are opened for 6 hours so heat loss:Q = 315 * 6 = 1890 Wh1890/1000 = 1,89 kWh

Cost of 1 kWh in Milan, Italy: 0,09133 E1,89 * 0,09133 = 0,17 E

So total energy cost per hallway per day:23,21E – 0,17E = 23,04

The heat lost with windows closed is hardly anything, therefore it isvery valuable to make sure they aren’t opened unnecessary
