The poles are nearing completion, gifts have been purchased, invitations have been sent out and we still need your help. On October 1st 2004 at 429 Deer- mount Avenue, at 7:00 p.m., KIC will hold a name-giving, adoption and re- galia dedication ceremony. Persons participating are responsible for their own give-away gifts to witnesses. If interested, please fill out the forms pro- vided at 429 Deermount reception or 2960 Tongass Avenue 5th Floor re- ception. You are also asked to bring a dessert to share. On October 2nd, KIC s main event will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the 2960 Ton- gass Avenue Tribal Clinic Building. The unveiling of the poles will take place at this time. The Potlatch will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Ted Ferry Civic Center. KIC is the host tribe of this event so if you would like to do- nate or volunteer services such as set- up, clean-up, decorating, serving, cooking, housing and transportation, please contact Cheryl Haven, Totem Pole Project Coordinator @ 228- 5230. Native food donations are needed! The following are some of the foods that are needed for your Potlatch: 1. Jarred Salmon Eggs 2. Jarred Beach Asparagus 3. Herring Eggs 4. Jarred or frozen Salmon Berries and/or Blueberries 5. Jarred or frozen Deermeat 6. Frozen Halibut 7. If you don t have any of these items please bring a dessert to the Potlatch to share. KIC Totem Pole Potlatch, 2004 September, 2004

The first pole was completed last September, 2003 by David Boxley, Tsimshian carver.

The final pole is also near completion by Tlingit carver, Israel Shotridge.

The second pole, carved by Haida carver Donald Varnell, is near completion and will be moved on September 27th.
