FROM THE

WELCOME

Welcome to our members and fans for our second home game of the season.

Sadly after the first three round results, Davor Bajsic stepped down as 1st grade coach.

Today we take on an equally desperate Sutherland team packed with exciting young players.

Traditionally our games against Sutherland have never been dull affairs, and we expect no different this afternoon.

Come on UNITED!

Anything that could go wrong has gone wrong for Sydney United 58 in the first three

matches of the year.

Three losses from as many games and the resignation of their coach Davor Bajsic has the reigning PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues champions Sydney United 58 on red alert.

A visit from the Sutherland Sharks is the next opportunity for the Reds to end their sluggish start to the season minus their skipper Nick Stavroulakis who will serve his one match suspension against his former club.

However, the Sharks won’t be giving away any competition points so easily.

Sutherland has followed a similar path to United 58 this season with their solid performances failing to equate to wins or competition points.

With so much riding on this much, it could be a tense encounter at Sydney United Sports Centre.

Hakoah Sydney City East 3 - Sydney United 58 2 at Hensley Athletic Field

Hakoah Sydney City East has inflicted more misery on reigning PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues Premiers Sydney United 58 defeating the 10-man Reds 3-2 in a feisty encounter at Hensley Athletic Field.

Robert Ezekiel’s free-kick proved to be the winner for Gavin Rae’s side, who had twice seen their lead pegged back by goals from Yutaro Shin and Panny Nikas.

Hakoah had earlier opened the scoring through Andre De Jong and cancelled out Shin’s equaliser late in the first half when Alexander Lekoski pounced expertly and finished with aplomb.

Sydney United 58 skipper Nick Stavroulakis, who was making his first appearance of the campaign after struggling with a calf injury, received his marching orders midway through the second half for his second bookable offence and the hosts took immediate advantage.

The defeat is United 58’s third consecutive and second in four days having been defeated 2-1 by Rockdale City Suns on Wednesday evening.

Sutherland Sharks 3 - APIA Leichhardt Tigers 4 at Seymour Shaw

APIA Leichhardt Tigers has clung on to a narrow 4-3 win against a fast finishing Sutherland Sharks during their PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s clash at Seymour Shaw.

A Sean Symons free-kick, Tasuku Sekiya strike and Corey Biczo double gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead with a little over 20 minutes to play. However, it proved to be a nervy finish for the visitors with a Jeremy Cox goal and a brace to Tomohiro Kajiyama giving Sutherland a sniff of victory late on.

It proved to not be the perfect ending to Sutherland Sharks ‘keeper Nathan Denham’s match as APIA held on to win in the shot stoppers’ 200th match.

The Tigers now have three wins on the trot and are looking like the team to beat in this season’s competition.

After months of hard work on the training pitch, the PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Women’s competition finally kicks off this Sunday.

Heather Garriock’s Sydney University swept all before them last season, taking out the treble in the Preseason Cup, Premiership and Championship.

It’s started much the same way for the ‘Yellow and Blues’, taking the first piece of silverware in 2017, winning the Preseason Cup for the second consecutive year.

Many teams look set to challenge them this year and one team that will be looking for revenge will be the North West Sydney Koalas, who played the ‘bridesmaid’ to the Champions last year.

The Northern Tigers are the new girls on the block and they’ll have something to prove as they attempt to consolidate themselves in the state’s top league.

Round 1 Preview

Charles Bean Sportsground will see the new girls on the block Northern Tigers entertain the Blacktown Spartans, JJ Kelly Park will play host to the Illawarra Stingrays taking on Sydney University. Lake Macquarie Regional Facility will feature the Emerging Jets clash with the Football NSW Institute, Macarthur Rams face Manly United at Lynwood Park while Northbridge Oval will see the North Shore Mariners take on the North West Sydney Womens Koalas.

The coverage kicks off this Thursday as Football NSW’s Facebook LIVE show, commencing at 6pm, will feature two stars of the female game with Sydney University’s Evelyn Chronis and North West Sydney Womens Koalas’ Nat Tobin in the studio talking about their up and coming year amongst a whole host of other topics - Don’t miss this and be sure to log onto the PS4 NPL NSW Facebook page on Thursday at 6pm to view the special feature.

Sutherland Sharks top the competition after the first month of action and will be shooting

for four wins in a row when they take on Sydney United 58 in Edensor Park on Sunday.

Nick Dimovski’s side have scored 11 goals in three wins over Manly United, Blacktown City and APIA Leichhardt and will be regarded as heavy favourites when they arrive at Sydney United Sports Centre.

However they may come up against the sternest competition yet in the form of a Sydney United 58 side undefeated in their two matches so far this campaign. The Reds are yet to concede a goal and head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a gritty 1-0 win over Hakoah Sydney City East.
