Today it’s welcome back to our southern neighbours Rockdale Suns. The Suns are

flying high at the moment but the Sharks are committed to end our run of outs by eclipsing the Suns this evening. The Sharks are disappointed that Jack Press sustained an injury last week that will keep him out for 3 weeks. Callum Fitzpatrick also had to pull out of last week’s game at the last minute. We are fortunate that Nathan Elasi has returned from his honeymoon and is ready to make a difference and Callum has recovered from his injury. Blair Brown has been in excellent form and together with Nick Littler will need to be at their best today to contain the Rockdale strike force.

The under 20s remain on top of the competition. It looked like they were heading for their first loss last week when they trailed 2-0 with 10 minutes to go. But a “never say die attitude” saw them score two late goals through Jake Borromeo and Deren O’Brien to earn Sharks a deserved 2-2 draw.

The under 18s had a good 3-1 win against Hakoah last week and are starting to show the form we know these very talented youngsters are capable of. These two evenly matched teams should provide good entertainment this afternoon.

Our Junior Association teams tonight are Georges River, Kirrawee and Bundeena. We thank the children and their parents for their support tonight. I’m sure the kids will enjoy the experience.

We are still modifying our new electronic scoreboard which should be fully operational within the month. Installing optic fibre cable will increase its functionality and allow us to display live action. But the prime feature we are focussing on at the moment is the numerals under the Sutherland and visitors logo on game day!

Sutherland Sharks have their focus firmly planted on a maiden win for the season

and will be out to make it a reality on Saturday against Rockdale City Suns.

It has been a tough start to the year for Sutherland but Carlos Villazon and his team has shown plenty of promising signs.

Rockdale come into the game on the back of a hard fought draw with Sydney Olympic and will be looking to return to winning ways.

Alec Urosevski has been the danger man for the Suns while former Sharks player Jordan FIgon will be out to have a big match in his first game back at Seymour Shaw since switching to Rockdale in the off season.

A sublime performance from Hakoah Sydney City East FC has secured a 4-0 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition win against Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw.

A brace from Anthony Frangie, as well as strikes from Aleksandar Lekoski and Andrew De Jong, downed the Sharks who are still searching for the first victory of the season.

It continues Hakoah’s strong start to the year which has included results against Sydney United 58, Blacktown City and now the Sharks.

Rockdale City Suns 2 - Sydney Olympic 2 at Ilinden Sports Centre

An 82nd minute goal from Yu Kuboki has helped Sydney Olympic FC clinch a 2-2 draw with Rockdale City Suns at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday.

The result ensured both team’s maintain their unbeaten start to the PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition after five rounds.

Young midfielder Max Burgess’ first minute goal was the perfect start for Olympic but goals to Jordan Figon and Alec Urosevski had Rockdale with the upper hand going into the final stages of the match.

However, Kuboki was able to make up for an earlier missed penalty to ensure the Jamie Monroy coached side snagged a vital competition point during what was an entertaining clash.

UNDER 20s

After coming from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw with Hakoah Sydney City East last weekend –

and in doing so, preserve their unbeaten streak in 2017 – Sutherland Sharks turn their attentions to a sixth round encounter against Rockdale City Suns on Saturday afternoon. The visitors travel to Seymour Shaw with just four points from their first five matches and sit nine points behind Sutherland in tenth place, having played a match less than their opponents.

This fixture ended in a 2-1 win for the hosts last season, while the reverse at Ilinden Sports Centre in late July saw a 1-1 draw, with Rockdale finishing each game with ten men. After holding Sydney Olympic to a scoreless draw at home last weekend, Rockdale may well harbour hopes of an upset at Seymour Shaw, although the Sharks look a tricky opponent as they aim to improve of last year’s fourth-place finish.
