Programmes we can use
What is blue screening?Blue screening allows us to take the background out of a photo, using the alpha tool, which is in
all of the i-works programmes.By doing this we can then add this image to any background, making it look like we are anywhere
our imagination takes us.
What are the good points of combining blue screening with programmes such as
Kid Pix?
Encourages creativity
Dynamic in appearance
Can be used across all curriculum areas
Let’s children know that everything they see is not always true
Children enjoy doing it!
Quick and easy
Some examples......
So...how do I do this?
Making a backdrop
Kid Pix is a great way for children to make a backdrop.
Photos can also be used. These may be ones you have taken or ones found on the net.
Clip art provides great pictures to use
Blue screening
Erect a screen as a backdrop. Electric blue is the most common colour but any bright colour will do. Just make sure the colour you choose
is different from those the children are wearing.
Take your photo and download it to i-photo.You can use your eye camera and go through photo
booth.
2.Find the media in the right hand side of the tool bar. This will give you access to your iphoto library, itunes and movie folder. Select the picture you wish to use as a background. Drag it onto your blank page.
3.Do the same with your blue screen photo. You can get rid of some of your background by using the mask tool. Go to format and click on mask. Once
you have done this, choose the instant alpa tool from the format menu.
1.Open up Keynote or Pages and select a blank template.
Once you have completed your picture you maywant to “stick” the pictures together. To do this, click on all the pictures while holding down the shift key, go to arrange, then select group.
4.The following text box will appear. If you edit your picture too much then control z will return you to your last attempt. Or you can use “remove instant alpha from the format menu. You may need to use the alpha tool several times to get rid of all the background.
There are plenty of tools you can discover through inspector.
Here are three you may find helpful
Rotating or flipping your
picture
Altering your picture with constraining proportions. This is useful when adding a background.
Adding a boarder or picture frameUse drop-down menu from Stroke.
Getting pictures from kid pix, internet, photo booth
Photo booth will come up in your iphoto media box.
Kid pixSave the picture to your desktop. You can drop it into iphoto then retrieve it from there or drag and drop it straight from the desktop.
InternetThere are ways to download photos but here’s an easy way I use.Find the picture you want.Press the apple, control, shift and 4 keys at the same time. This will give you a cross that you can drag over the picture you want. It will take a picture and paste it onto your clipboard. From here you can paste it onto your page. Please consider copyright when doing this.
