Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from Medanta- Medicity, Gurgaon!

It is our pleasure to announce the Fifth Update on kidney transplant- a Practical approach to be held at Hotel

Pullman, Aerocity, Delhi on 21-22th December 2019.

Kidney transplants are steadily increasing in India. According to a rough estimate in year 2018, about 10,000 kidney

transplants were done in India out of which approximately 85% were living donor transplants and 650 were ABO incompatible

transplants, which makes India as country with most number of living donor kidney transplant in the World. The availability of

better drugs and newer technology like luminex has helped in improving the transplant outcomes. Now we are able to do many

high risk transplant like HLA incompatible and ABO incompatible transplant with good success rates. Yet there are many grey

areas in this field and we need to continuously update our knowledge to provide best outcomes to our patients.

The transplant update provides an opportunity to interact, share knowledge, experience and to clarify doubts as meeting is

designed in such a way that it provides ample time for discussion, which is sometimes lacking in regular nephrology meetings.

This update also provides a good opportunity for many nephrologists working in centres where support system is not so good to

discuss their doubts and difficulty in dealing with transplant recipients. Last year approximately 350 Nephrologists

from across the country attended transplant update on infectious disease and benefitted from it.

This year, we have invited renowned experts and pioneers in the field of Transplant Immunology and high risk transplant.

Dr Anat R Tambur, is the Director of Transplant immunology laboratory at Feinberg School of Medicine,

Northwestern University Chicago . Dr Anat R Tambur is a pioneer in the field of transplant immunology and authored more

than 100 original articles in reputed journals. She has special interest in Luminex technology and study of HLA epitopes. Dr

Dorry Segev, who is Professor of Surgery and Vice Chair, Department of Surgery, Director Epidemiology

Research Group in Organ Transplantation Johns Hopkins University and is a pioneer in the field of high risk

transplants like- HLA incompatible transplant, transplant from HCV and HIV positive donors among others.

Dr Carrie Schinstock is an Associate Professor of Medicine and clinical and translational researcher at

division of Nephrology and Transplantation at Mayo clinic Rochester. Her focus areas of research are

antibody mediated rejection and characterisation of donor specific antibodies. We are sure that their

participation would enhance the quality of meeting and provide a great opportunity for Indian nephrologists to interact with them

and share their experiences.

Our format as always will be a mix of high end talks and case based discussion mostly, as it provides an approach towards

problem solving. We invite you to send your interesting cases, which have a message and useful for others in their day

today practise. The selection of cases for presentations would be done by scientific committee. The duration of case presentation

would be 8 minutes followed by 7 minutes of discussion. You can send your cases at www.transplantupdate.com .

We have kept a discounted registration fee of Rs- 5000/ for delegates and Rs- 2500/- for students. You can register yourself

online at www.transplantupdate.com or send the completed attached form through mail.

The meeting would start post-lunch at 1.00 pm on Saturday 21st December and would conclude by 3 pm after lunch on 22nd

December Sunday.

Hope to see you at meeting.
