Fundraising for Grantham
Playground Equipment!!
By; Kiana Paine
Grantham Boosters are fundraising for new play-
ground equipment. On Facebook, if you like us, “Like” us, on our
Grantham Boosters Playground page. There is also a “Go fund
me” account you can click on, on the Facebook page also.
We have already had our Grantham Spaghetti Feed, which the
funds are going to the new Grantham playground. Other fundrais-
ers to look forward to: the haunted house at the book fair, and the
Breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Heath’s/Mrs. Harris’s class will be hav-
ing fundraisers and maybe even the 5th and 6th graders will help!!
Keep an eye out for other fundraisers. I’m sure your kids will LOVE
a new playground. We won’t have the new playground if we don’t
have the money. So help with the fundraisers, soon we will have
the playground but that is only if all of you, well most of you, can
come help with the fundraisers either by participating in sales or
volunteering to help. It will be a community effort!
This is Our playground now ... or do you want to see NEW!

This month I’ll be telling you about a lower grade
chapter book series called: Spencer’s Adventures. The
book I am reading is called: The Great Toilet Paper Ca-
per written by Gray Hogg. Its AR level is 4.3 & you can
get 1.0 point for reading it. The author, Gray Hogg
came to this school in 2008 and he gave us these
books. And, they have recently just became AR read-
ing books!
I have only read to chapter 4, so far, out of 7 and
it is very interesting. It is a backwards week or like a
backwards day! As of now in the book, it’s a back-
wards day. I have enjoyed it very much so far! There
are 6 books in this series and we have 2
of each in our library! Sooo, Check this
great book out from our library, It Rocks!
Good luck reading it, hope you like it!

Book Interview By: Keegan H.
By. Karmen J.
I am going to be talking about
mediation. We, 4th-6th, do mediation out on
the playground and we are the people who
have the orange vests on. We are out there
helping students with problems, while on the
playground. All of the mediators have to go to medi-
ation training, given by Mrs. A, where we learn how
to help you people properly. In addition, it is a lot
of fun, because we get to know the primary kids! If
you students ever have an issue on the playground,
you kids can go to one of us orange vested media-
tors, and we will help you solve the problem. Don’t
be shy because we are really nice. If you ever have
a problem at recess, Come see us!
Spaghetti
And
Marimbas
On October 1, 2015, we had a spaghetti feed for NEW playground
equipment .The marimbas played from 6-6:30. Mrs. Ronningen said they did great! We played: The Happy Song, Bad Monkey, You Are My Sunshine, Sokianna, and Ekwanongoma. Some songs are Zimbabwean. Besides the Marimbas, there was also
a silent auction as well, with many baskets
from which to choose. Some of you got some
neat stuff at a great deal! We raised $1466.94! It
was amazing and fun too!

Hi, we are interviewing Mr.
Josh Bruns, who works
with Mrs. Follett in her
room and all over the
school! Josh helps the kids
who have problems learn-
ing and the kids who don’t
like to learn, well, it’s not
that they don’t want to
learn, it’s that they have
some BIG problems that take their focus off learning. So Josh
helps them keep focused!
Josh grew up in Colorado. He went to Whitworth for
college and to a college graduate school called Princeton. Josh is
42 years old. He has 3 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 1 fish, and he has 2 chickens! Mr. Josh also has one older sister named Meghan.
Josh has a few “Favorite Things” we want to tell
you about! Josh`s favorite movie is: Lord of the Rings. His fa-
vorite color is orange and his favorite animal is a dog. Steak is
Josh`s favorite food and favorite dessert is pecan pie! For sports,
his favorite is baseball. His most favorite thing to do is, to spend
time with his family. But he also likes spending time with the kids
and adults at Grantham!
For more than a year now, Josh has been working in the
Clarkston School District and his most favorite job is at: Ta-Da!
Grantham Elementary School as a new hire! He says this is
where kids and adults come to learn and to have fun while they
do it. We think Josh is one of the best helpers our in school and
a great person! And he gets to ride around on a scooter while
he’s doing it! Well, he had surgery on his foot and it is healing!
Hey, when you see Josh scooting around say “Hi” to him,
‘course he may be in a walking cast soon, gimping around!
Thanks Josh for your big smile and helping us kids!

HI, Manuel H. here with Sports News! I am telling you about my favorite soccer team today. They are the Mexico National Soccer Team! The Mexican Na-tional Soccer Team, or the 'El Tri', has usually by tradition domi-nated CONCACAF play, winning their 6th in 2011. The most successful competitions to date for the Mexican National Foot-
ball Team were reaching the quarterfinals of the World Cup in both 1970 and 1986. By con-secutively qualifying for the World Cup since 1994, Mexico looks to use experience and tra-dition to continue the quest for gold.
Here are some facts about the team:
Founded: August 9, 1927 Association: Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) Head Coach: Juan Carlos Osorio Confederation: CONCACAF Arena/Stadium: Estadio Azteca Nickname(s): El Tri (The Tri) or El Tricolor (The Tricolor) Captain: Rafael Márquez Top scorer: Jared Borgetti (46)
Mexico Javier Hernandez (14) in action during a soccer friendly match
against Ecuador, March 28, 2015, at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in
Los Angeles. (AP Photo/Ringo H.W. Chiu)
I hope you enjoy soccer as much as I do and find your favorite
team! But it is really just fun playing with your friends on a field
somewhere! This is Manuel for Sports! Keep Fit! MH
