This course is based on a work of historical fiction about the Holocaust of the Second World War by award-winning author Lois Lowry. This story centers on ten-year-old Anne-

marie Johansen,who lived in Copenhagen, Denmark. The novel was awarded the 1990 Newbery Medal as the "most distinguished contribution to American literature for children". Read the book at home and at class to learn about the Holocaust through the eyes of Annemarie.

The book will be provided to all reg-istrants at the first class meeting for the group to begin reading together. Game Builders Academy: Creating Video Games!Designing Video Games as teaching tools… learn, grow, have fun and succeed! Hands-on technology, hand-eye coordination, deconstructing systems, internalized mapping, improved eyesight, increased focus, and confidence in creating a new and individualized game are some of the many proven benefits of this program. Participants take pride in creating their own end product, which is not a commercially published video game but their own inspiration based on their imagination and academic preparedness.

Intro to Video Game Design & Development (grades 5-12) Participants use and strengthen math, logic, communication, concentration and critical think-ing skills, problem solving and creative thinking – all in the context of learning how to design and program video games! This course offers registrants an exciting introduction to the technical and artistic concepts and techniques of designing and programming video games. Students gain a working knowledge of the skills and tools necessary to design and develop video games, and will learn how to use Game Maker software and graphics programs. They will be introduced to the fundamentals of animation for use in their games, and create at least one full working video game, and an advanced pong-style game. Prerequisites: None. How to Audition for Broadway Broadway is a dream for millions of young people across the world. However, if you are inter-ested in actually auditioning for Broadway, there are several tips you need to keep in mind before ever stepping foot inside a theater. This class will help you learn how to best prepare for a musical (Broadway) audition. Learn where to look for auditions, pick the right song, interact with the casting directors, prepare your sheet music, and how to dress. This NYS Education Dept.-approved course is for all eligible public and private high school students. Instructors are licensed by the NYS Department of Education. This program uses late model vehicles with dual controls.

ELIGIBILITY. All high school students are eligible to register for the Driver Education program provided they are or will be 16 years of age by September 16, 2011. Students must have a learner’s permit or junior license before and bring to first class.
