Class & Program Registration

Full payment must accompany all registration for classes and programs. Only members in good standing (current in dues payments for the duration of the program) can register or receive members-only discounts. Fees may be paid in person, on-line, by mail or telephone. To register over the telephone call (949) 435-3400 and ask for Program Registration. You may pay by Visa, MasterCard or American Express. The JCC reserves the right to cancel any class for insufficient registration. Participants will be notified as soon as possible and their fees refunded. Some classes may be open to members only. If you are not a member you may register for classes where specified at the public rate.

General Information

Member I.D. Cards: I.D. cards identify you as a JCC member and grant you access to designated areas of the building. You must wear your I.D. badge at all times while in the building. Lost cards will be replaced for a $15 charge.

Sponsoring Memberships:Your generous donation will provide scholarships for families who need assistance with membership fees. Your donation is tax-deductible, less the value of your membership.

• Platinum Membership $4,800 (pays for four or more families) • Diamond Membership $3,600 (pays for three or more families)• Gold Membership $2,400 (pays for 2 single parent families) • Silver Membership $1,800 (pays for one family)

Membership Payment and RenewalsNew JCC membership is based on a 12 month agreement and is automatically renewable. Membership is billed monthly and continues until notification of cancellation is received. To cancel your membership, a written or email notice to the Membership Director ([email protected]) must be submitted at least 30-days in advance and an online exit interview survey must be completed. Membership is not transferable or refundable and participation in physical conditioning and recreational programs is at member’s own risk. Couple, Single/Single Parent, Young Adult and Sponsoring memberships entitle members to year-round use of the fitness and aquatics facility, plus reduced fees for courses and programs. Social memberships entitle you to reduced fees for courses and programs. Families who register their child for the 2014-2015 preschool year must be members of the JCC during the entire school year. A one year membership is required.

Refund PolicyThere are no refunds for membership, camp, or preschool. For classes the following schedule applies: A full refund if the JCC cancels a class; a full refund minus a $10 administrative fee for withdrawals before class begins; a 50% refund for withdrawal at the end of the first class; no refunds are given after the second class begins. There is a $25 charge for returned checks.

Financial AdjustmentsScholarship memberships are awarded for day care, preschool, summer camp and the Club J afterschool program only. No one is denied JCC membership due to inability to pay. Adjusted fees are available for those unable to pay the full fee. Contact Marcia Clark (949) 435-3400 ext. 312. Scholarship funds are available through the generosity of our Sponsoring Members who ensure that membership is open to all.

Little Rembrandts: Painting Day at the J, Ages 3-5

Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m.$140 members, $160 publicIn a creative environment, young artists create their own masterpieces using a variety of paint media. Art, especially drawing, painting and clay work, helps kids develop fine motor skills and teaches them to problem solve. All materials provided.

Fairytale Ballet, Ages 3-5 Mondays, 1:15-2 p.m.$140 for members/$160 public Students learn ballet steps and terminol-ogy and dance to their favorite princess songs. Classes promote, flexibility, rhythm, socialization, muscle toning and creative expression. The final class is a dance perfor-mance in the theatre. Ballet shoes, tights and leotard are recommended, but not required.

Hebrew, Ages 3-5

Tuesdays, 1:15 – 2 p.m.Members only $140.In this Hebrew immersion enrichment, yeladim (students) learn conversational Hebrew by singing songs and listening to the instructor speak primarily Hebrew. Students will be introduced to the Hebrew Alef-Bet (Alphabet), learn Hebrew songs, make crafts, and even to converse in Hebrew. Instructor: Sylvia

Art may seem like fun and games (and it is) but your child is actually learning a lot about shapes, colors, and different media. In this class kids get to play with clay, make jewelry, build super cool mobiles and more. All materials provided.

Storybook Sports Ages 3-5

Then they’ll play different sports including soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, football and more. After reading a summary of a theatrical play, students will design the costumes they would give each character in the story. Students will even have the opportunity to bring some of their designs to life by the end of the session!

Class limited to 20 studentsStudents will work on their painting techniques by creating works of art on real canvas over the course of several weeks. Children use agility, hand/eye coordination and quick thinking in order to excel in this game. GaGa is an exciting Israeli game that teaches basic sports skills and encourages social interaction with peers. All skill levels welcome.

Children will have the oppor-tunity to show their creative style using the computer application KidPix where they will design multiple graphics and designs to make their own personal masterpieces.

Grades 2-5 Wednesday 3:45-4:30 Sport Field, Members only $116Children will learn the very basics of football in this 45 minute enrichment period. From learning how to properly grip a football by the laces, to learning how to run an effective offense into the end-zone- this class is excellent for learning strategy techniques and team building.

Chocolate Creations

Grades K-1: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30Grades 2-5: Wednesday 4:45 – 5:30Dressing RoomMembers $116, Public $184, Material Fee $25The ancient fermented cocoa fruit was used by Aztec warriors in food, in drinks and by ancient rulers. Later, when it was brought to Europe, it became popular among ordinary people and nowadays our love for chocolate knows no bounds. Stu-dents will create simple dishes to explore the uses of this delectable sweet as they learn how chocolate is prepared and used in confectionary and baking.

Students will learn how to make their own magic tricks before practicing how to do them and will have the opportunity to perform their tricks at showcase.

Cheer

Grades K-5: Wednesday 3:45-4:30Sr. Center, Members $116, Public $184Come cheer with Rhythm Motion! This class is for beginning cheerleaders and for experienced cheerleaders wanting to fine tune their talents. The class includes aero-bic stretches, precise arm placements, kicks, jumps, chants, and a fun cheer dance to be performed for friends and family on the last day. This class is great for exercise and making new friends.

Chess

Grades 2-5: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30Grades K-1: Wednesday 4:45 – 5:30Dressing RoomMembers $116, Public $184Students learn the basics of playing chess, including piece movements, general rules (ranging from checkmate to stalemates), and more subtle rules of game play (such as en passant). This class is an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves in a friendly, yet competitive manner while developing skills in analysis, spatial perception, making fast and accu-rate decisions. All levels are welcome.

Capture the Flag

Grades K-1: Wednesday 4:45-5:30 Gym, Sport Field, Members only $116Children work together as a unit in this team-based action game where the goal is to locate and recover the opposing team’s flag before they do the same. The class promotes teamwork and strategy.

Young Playwrights NEW!

Grades 2-5: Wednesday 4:45-5:30Sr. Center , Members $116, Public $184, Creative students will channel their inner Shakespeare in this fun, new class as they work together to write a play, practice their lines and design the scenery, costumes, and props that go along with the story. Cool Art For Cool Kids, Ages 6+

WAVES swimming uses a progressive age group program in which the swimmer is instructed and developed in physical, mental and emotional levels in a systematic fashion. An emphasis on fun and family for the younger swimmers develops into a gradual increase in commitment over a period of years. Every unique group for children emphasizes the joy of swimming while introducing beginning swimming techniques. The “pre-team” portion of the class teaches the fundamental motor skills of swimming with an emphasis on correct body placement. The WAVES offer competitive and non-competitive tracks for swimmers to follow once they finish with swim lessons.

Register by grade: players will be placed in the appropriate division by grade and skill level. Each team will have a coach; all practices and games take place on Sundays. Kindergarten and 1st Grade teams will be rotated so they can play with different friends and teammates. Grade 2 and up will play against other teams from the JCC and in Orange County.
