A net is defined to be something that is launched out into wa-ters for a catch. In our lives we are always launching into areas that the Lord brings before us. He has given us all "nets" to launch. What are we launching into the lives of our children, into our families, into the world? Are we launching out where He wants us to?

First and foremost, our nets need to be woven with the truth of God's word and our confidence in it.

Secondly, our nets are to be strengthened with the passion of a heart going after what the Lord has promised us, all that He is, and all that He has made us to be.

KidWise 6

Page 7: KidWise Magazine - Autumn 2010

It is His desire that we abandon natural reasoning and move out to launch into the deep. That simply requires us to not "lean on our own understanding and in all our ways acknowledging Him". Proverbs 3:5&6

When the Lord told Peter to cast his net, it was after He had spoken the word to them, and Peter's response in verse 5 of Luke 4 is much like ours, as we can also often say,   "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught any-thing."

Peter immediately followed that reasoning with obedience, "But because you say so, I will let down the nets."

KidWise 17

Page 9: KidWise Magazine - Autumn 2010

Be ready, when you launch out, there will be a catch... "When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break."

Launching out for your family, for your children and for your minis-try can bring a challenge with it. Whenever you launch out on the Lord's direction there is a catch. Every mother knows, once you promise your kids the moon, they expect you to come through and get it for them. That's when the pressure's on! Not only is the Lord asking us to launch out our nets, but we find the harvest on the other side needs our commitment to follow through by the same power that brought us the catch.

So, keep your focus, launch out your nets, and know this, the same One that brought the catch will give you the same power to harvest it!

Your nets really won't break! The disciples did pull in those fish...

"When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."  Luke 5:4

Have you ever noticed that your children can watch something over and over again. As they seem to never be done with watching, they learn all the lines and the words on what they are viewing enough to recite them and even act out all the scenes. As we produced the movie, "Sybil Ludington", I have found kids re-peating the lines word for word. That means they act out what they see.

What our children look at, and listen to, they will speak and experience. The word of God tells us in Psalm 19:8, that God's word brings light to our eyes and brings joy to our hearts. Filling our children's lives with the word of God brings direction, light, wisdom, and joy. As they have ministry, teaching, videos, enter-tainment, and our simple sharing the things of God with them, they will shine with God's glory.

Psalm 25:15, speaks to us that as we put our eyes "ever on the Lord", He will keep us out of the snares of the enemy. As we teach our children to keep their fo-cus on the things of God, and to keep their eyes on the Lord, we will bring to them to experience God's divine wisdom and protection. It is His plan for our children to experience and "walk" in the blessing. He directs our steps and every place the soles of our feet step, He blesses us to possess.

The Lord directs us to watch out what we put before our eyes. In this we need to consider our children. In Psalm 119:37, we're directed to turn our eyes away from worthless things. The promise is that our lives are preserved by His word.

KidWise 10

"The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes." Psalm 19:8

"My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare." Psalm 25:15

His word keeps us, brings life, and defines our existence. Today, humanistic views try to define existence outside of God's word. They define it through phi-losophies in every avenue they can. As Christians, we need to keep God's word, His presence, His wisdom, and His culture established in the lives of our chil-dren. Keeping our children focused on the word of God and teaching them His word, preserves their lives and our heritage.

Not only are our children's existence defined by the word of God, they are kept and made to last through the word. When a person runs a marathon they need lasting power. Our children can stay on course and run with lasting faith as they remain focused on God's word. God's promises will keep our children safe and blessed and maintain His way of doing things in their lives. His word will retain them. That means as our children embrace His word, it will keep them through His continuous power, holding them and keeping them in the palm of His hands and at the very center of His attention. Because our children look to the things of God and watch what they put before their eyes, we will find our "Kid’s Views" will bring the blessing and promises of God not only to their hearts, but working in their lives without limits!

KidWise 17KidWise KidTips

"Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word." Psalm 119:37

The definition of preserved means to; 1. keep alive, 2. keep in existence, 3. make to last, 4. keep safe from harm, injury, protect, and spare, 5. keep possession of, 6. retain, 7. maintain.

Page 12: KidWise Magazine - Autumn 2010

One of the most enjoyable things as parents is to watch our kids learn. The most important thing to remember is

that they are never too young, so start early! Here are some quick and fun things you can do with your toddler

any time of the day for some simple learning time together.

For us, morning time is filled with learning. We have a little section on our fridge that, with sticky tack, we have posted the day of the week, the calendar date, the weather of the current day, and whatever season we are in. Each morning we talk about these things. Not only is this fun for everyone, but it's also a great way for them to learn these basics even at a young age.

For the day of the week we have a little song that goes, "If yesterday was Sunday, what's today? …Monday!" The pause gives them the chance to answer for themselves, and once they do, we celebrate the answer! Even though this is simple, it is such fun for them and easy for them to remember. After only about a week, your little one will catch on and begin to learn the order of the days.

For the months of the year, we simply go over them each day. We talk about how many months there are in a year, which month we are in and the first and last months of the year. We also talk about the special occasions we celebrate in each month to give them a way to relate to each month. We have whatever month we are currently in, posted with our sticky tack, as well as, the current day of that month. This provides a great way for them to think about number order. It is also fun for them to learn and experience numbers beyond just 1-10.

KidWise 12

Learning_Little_Ones

Page 13: KidWise Magazine - Autumn 2010

We all take a moment to look out the window and discuss what we think the weather is like. Hot, cold, stormy, cloudy, sunny.. the list goes on and on. We have cute little weather cards that we have designed that we stick up according to what it is that day. It is fun to listen to their thoughts and post the cards accord-ing to the weather they notice. This is a great way for them to learn what is expected in each season as the weather changes. In each season we talk about the beautiful characteristics we notice outside as well as how the way the weather changes accord-ing to whichever season we are in.

Don't have a set of weather cards, days of the week or the months of the year? Make your own! With today's technology of the internet and copy machines, it is easy to find images that you can use to relate to each of these things and help your little one learn! Take a weekend and custom make some cards with your toddler. They will love to color, cut and paste with you and make some of your very own things to learn with.

Customize these ideas to work with your family's schedule and lifestyle, and of course whatever works best for your little one. Remember, above all, to have a fun time together!

k i c k s - e r - c i s eWe all know how energetic our kids can be! Here is a great, fun ‘cheer’ with exercise for any group of kids to do together, to use up some of that amazing energy!! Simply follow the directions of the ‘cheer’ and end with a BANG!

I CAN DROP AND TOUCH THE GROUND,

THEN GET UP AND TURN AROUND,

I ONCE WAS LOST BUT NOW I'M

FOUND!

JESUS HAS FORGIVEN ME!

Repeat several times increasing speed each time and see how fast you can go!

Step 1. Gather your scrap felt. Use whichever

colors you would like on your leaf+love garland.

Step 2. Either with a stencil or freehand, cut

leaves from the felt. Don’t be concerned about

them being perfect, the small differences in each

leaf gives them character. This is a lot of fun for

the kiddos.

Step 3. Cut a few hearts (again, either with a

stencil or freehand) to go along with your leaves.

Step 4. Lay out your leaves and hearts, finding

the pattern you want to use before stitching them

all together.

Step 5. Using yarn and a large-eyed needle (or

you can use thread or embroidery floss, whatever

you have and would like to use), stitch through the

leaves and hearts. Tie a knot at both the begin-

ning and the end.

Step 6. Hang and enjoy!

What You Need:4 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (I use pe-cans, but pick your favorite!)

1/2 cup brown sugar1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg(you may add any of your favorite spices -- allspice, a dash of cloves or ginger.. whatever you like)1/4 tsp salt1/3 c olive oil1/3 c honey1/3 c water1 1/2 c dried fruit (cranberries, cherries, raisins, blueber-ries.. pick your favorite!)*I sometimes add about 1/2 cup of shelled sunflower seeds and/or baked pumpkin seeds, depending on what Iʼm in the mood for.

Instructions:Preheat oven to 300

Mix together dry ingredients. Make a ʻwellʼ in the center and add the oil, honey, and water. Stir until well combined and spread evenly on a cookie sheet. (I usually line the cookie sheet with parchment paper)

Bake the granola in the oven for about 40 mins, stirring lightly every 10 minutes to keep it from sticking and make for more even baking.

Cool completely then add the dried fruit. Store in airtight container or baggy and ENJOY!! :)

One of the BEST things to make during this cozy Autumn season is your very own, homemade granola. It’s quick and easy, tasty and fairly healthy. Have fun getting creative and adding your own twist to this classic snack.

Page 17: KidWise Magazine - Autumn 2010

One of my favorite things to do each day is make a list of the things that I appreciate about that day. Sometimes the lists are simple and sometimes they are complex, but

regardless, it creates a

thankful atti-tude and an

awareness of the things in my life that I have to be

thankful for. This craft is

simply that list. Find your fa-vorite craft supplies, sit down, and

make that list. Think about the

things that, even if for just a moment, you were thankful

for. Challenge yourself to do this once a day for at least a week, then create a space to place your thankful pages -- a notebook, the refrigerator, wherever you will see them and remember. This is fun and easy and a great way to create that thankful attitude that we all need! Include your family on this project as well -- challenge them do to

the same with their lists, and place them where they will see and remember.

Our Supplies:Deja Views (background paper), Making Memories (background paper), Basic Grey (background paper, chipboard tag), May Arts (ribbon), Elle's Studio (note and date tags), Stampin' Up (alpha stamps, ink, markers)

If the darkness seems overwhelming, step into the light. To see light, you have to be in Light! "For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light." Psalm 36:9 (NIV)

1 John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."  (NIV)

Jesus Light COOL. Devil darkness NOT cool. Walk in the Light! BE HAPPY!!

Expect the best concerning everything. Anything less is not faith in action. Hebrews 11:6 says that faith pleases God. Be a God pleaser!

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (NIV)

If its worth doing, do it right, anything else is wrong. Count the cost. Luke 14:28 "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and es-timate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?" (NIV)

A quote from experience "Measure twice, cut once".

KICKS Club is an outreach of KICKS Ministries and Victory Harvest Church. KICKS Ministries and Victory Harvest Church, Inc. is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit church. We produce educational, Christian television programming. Two of our programs, "KICKS Club" and "KidWise", currently air on multiple net-works, over 30 times weekly. Our potential viewing audience is around 2 bil-lion people worldwide. We also currently have four new programs in various stages of production and will be releasing our first full length feature film "Sybil Ludington", are in post-production on our second full length feature film “NEW”, and have other films in pre-prodcution. "KICKS Club" is the longest running, "currently produced", Christian educational program for children.

KICKS Club has over 40,000 members and unites children for the purpose that they may feel they are a part of the Body of Christ worldwide. Children can watch KICKS Club and our other programs through various media outlets. We are now excited about offering more free resources to reach children and their families to equip them in the Word of God. We have always offered free membership cards, certificates, and packets for kids, but now, through "Kid-Wise" Magazine and our KICKS Club Resource Network we are offering color-ing pages, music downloads, scripture cards, curriculum, and much more.

As we reach children through our media resources, we offer children member-ship to KICKS Club and opportunity for them through our media outreach, KICKS TV to participate in KICKS Club's "Kids 2 Kids". Our focus is to reach children with the Word of God, inspire them in the creative arts, and equip families through offering quality family programming as well as through our webpages, and e-magazine.
