Health by Design Our concepts looks to connect the faculty/students of the new UB School of Medicine with the surrounding community. This will be achieved through a live/work non-profit health clinic which will incorporate apartments for doctors and young medical profession-als. Topography is a driving force in our design. In an otherwise flat geographical region, shifting elevations will work to improve quality of life for the clinic visitors and occupants. The cafe/mar-ket border the site on three sides making the building urban sen-sitive. In addition the public courtyard works as a multi-use space that can become a new urban plaza extending multiple street fes-tivals into the space. The building fits in to the existing context through the typologies of tower (housing) and clinic on Delaware and more pedestrian activities (market, cafe, plaza) on Allen.
