KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT- TBI) - A Perspective Ecosystem for Supporting Innovation and Creating Enterprise KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI) has been established with a broader vision and mission of transforming research developments into commercially - feasible technologies for the benefit of society. The primary mission of KIIT- TBI is to facilitate the commercialization of research results as well as the acquisition and use of state-of the-art technologies, which would promote domestic resource exploitation and improve the international competitiveness of national industry. KIIT-TBIs aim explicitly at incubating enterprises with a high or advanced technology content. KIIT-TBI is an effective tool for technology transfer, innovation, generating skilful jobs and for local economic development. KIIT-TBI is supported by the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Board, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. The purpose of setting up of this TBI was to promote clusters of Technology based Small Enterprises in selected thrust areas utilizing the expertise, facilities and other infrastructure available in the institution. KIIT-TBI was given the status of a Technology Business Incubator in 2008 by NSTEDB, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and was registered on the 13 th of October 2009 as a Section 25 Company with Registration No. U80302OR2009NPL011211, 2009-2010). KIIT-TBI is also a member of APIN, ISBA and NEN.

Reduced risk and time to marketThe TBI has a Governing body comprising of eminent personalities including subject experts. The technical experts are associated right from the screening of the technology proposed to be incubated till the graduating out of the incubatee into a successful MSME unit. In its efforts to provide the best of its kind inputs to its incubatees, the TBI draws from the strength of Scientists, Researchers and other experts from various faculties of the University such as Biotechnology, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Law, Medicine, Management etc. The University has been working with some of the best Universities and International Institutes across the world such as ETH, EAWAG, Heidelberg, Cleveland clinic, Universities of Florida and Pennsylvania of the US, NIFES and IMMT etc .

Besides NSTEDB, KIIT-TBI is also supported by various Governmental agencies such as Technology Development Board(TDB) for seed support assistance, BIRAC, Dept of Biotechnology; Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE), Department of Information Technology(DIT); Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises(MSME) to Support entrepreneurial and managerial Development of MSMEs through Incubators. Although the principal thrust of KIIT TBI is Biotechnology and ICT,

KIIT-TBI is now also focusing on other emerging areas in Engineering & Technology and Rural Innovation. During the very short period since the TBI has started, till date, 30 startup companies have been associated. Out of 30 incubated companies,8 companies are graduated out.

KIIT Technology Business Incubator regularly conducting also conducted several capacity building and training program for students , budding Entrepreneurs and faculties like Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp(EAC) ,Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme (WEDP), Techno Entrepreneurship Development Program (TEDP), Faculty Development Program in Entrepreneurship (FDP), Idea Generation Competition, B-Plan Competition, Innovators meet and other different workshops and seminars
