Kilimo Biashara Training Programme (KBTP)

AIM:To share experiences in

project development and implementation

of regional agricultural trade based initiatives

Kilimo Biashara Training Programme (KBTP)

Kilimo Trust’s Kilimo Biashara Training Programme specialises in training and disseminating knowledge that Kilimo Trust and other partners have gained from the practical implementation of regional projects on food trade. The programme is designed to

offer evidence based lessons and solutions to challenges facing regional trade especially in food staples in the East African Community. KBTP offer courses in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

Why share this knowledge?Despite the increasing recognition of the need for increased competitiveness to boost trade in food staples, there is a dearth of aggregated evidence on regional trade dynamics. This constrains effective and coordinated investment in priority areas, appropriate policy making and accurate identification of obstacles to trade. This is despite the fact that a number of organisations have generated a significant amount of knowledge over time based on their experiences in project development and implementation of agricultural trade based initiatives. This programme offers a platform to share this knowledge.
