Aforementioned - Euclid Housing Task Force and Lake Breeze Neighborhood

    Association President

    Three areas of change:

    1. I believe that one of the most pressing concerns the City faces is the number of vacant

homes due to the housing crisis that began in 2007. Previously, I have worked for the Cuyahoga

Land Bank, which has been at the forefront of coming up with novel solutions to the challenging

problems our communities are facing in the wake of the foreclosure crisis. In addition, through

my work with the Euclid Housing Task Force, I am more than prepared to continue to tackle the

problem of vacant and abandoned properties from a City Council position - through education,

research and aggressive marketing of all of the fine attributes that our City possesses.

    2. Simultaneously, I want to specifically target our affordable housing to a new

generation of professionals and graduate students. Graduate students and young professionals

are looking for places rich in diversity and history in which to live and work. I have seen many

buy homes in several different urban/inner-ring suburban communities over the years; they are

attracted by access to public transportation, cultural diversity, a real neighborhood feel and

non-chain restaurants and shops. All of which Euclid can happily provide - along with access to

beautiful parks and lakefront areas. I want to ensure that Euclids riches are highlighted when

they begin to look around to buy that first home.

    3. There has been a lot of positive change in our downtown over the past several years. I

would like to use those infrastructure and cosmetic changes, as well as my connections with the

Greater Cleveland graduate community, neighborhood development corporations and non-

profits, to spur small business development in our area. Many graduates are not looking to fit

into the molds of the past, and many want to branch out on their own. Euclid possesses all of

the services that a young entrepreneur needs, as well as a great location (10 minutes to

downtown, access to public transportation), and affordable commercial and industrial space. I

look forward to championing our City and attracting new young business professionals.

    Why should Voters elect me?

Voters should elect me primarily because I care passionately about the future of this City.

I am a proud Euclid graduate (class of 95) and this is the community in which my husband and I

have chosen to stay, buy a home and raise our family.

Second, they should elect me because I have the qualifications, experience, skills and

contacts to follow-through on the goals that I have set. I have past experience in the City of

Euclids law department, where I learned many things, not the least of which is what is necessary

for effective city legislation, experience with City labor/union issues, and negotiation of City

contracts. Also, as a former associate with the Urban Development Law Clinic at Cleveland-

Marshall College of Law I discovered the change that is possible with partnerships between local

government, neighborhood development corporations and non-profits. My time at the Cuyahoga

Land Bank was also spent fruitfully, making several beneficial contacts and learning about what

works and what doesnt when the primary goal as an organization is to raise area property values

and recover from a nationally-crippling housing crisis.

Finally, I have been an active member of my community - through my Church, as

President of my neighborhood association and as a member of the Euclid Housing Task Force.

I look forward to serving my fellow neighbors and residents professionally, responsibly

and with the best interests of Ward 4 residents and the City as a whole. Thank you.
