Unit: Speed Away Lesson Focus: Skills and Game Play

Safety: Students will pay attention to their surroundings at all times. Students will follow the teacher’s instructions. Students will use the equipment appropriately.

Health Related Fitness (HRF) Component & Activities that Support Learning of HRF: Cardiovascular Endurance: Playing Speed Away an intense aerobic exercise that will build your cardiovascular endurance up when played at a certain intensity. Agility: Speed Away also requires you to make fast movements and change directions really quickly which helps increase your agility.

(2min) Set Induction: Ask the students what are the different ways to move with the ball in

Speed Away Tell them that we will be reviewing the skills and then be playing some

modified games of Speed Away.

Management: Have students get into partners to review skills.

Activity 1 (10min): Review of Skills (Traveling with the ball by kicking, throwing, and running. Passing to a partner by kicking and throwing.)Task Development:Extensions (E):

Vary distance Add a defender Limit number of moves/passes

Refinements (R): Lead your partner when passing Make deceptive moves while being defended Make smooth transition from offense to defense on a turnover

Application(A): How many times can you and your partner get past the defender without

turning over the ball in 2 minutes?

Management: Split students up into 2 equal teams to play modified games of Speed Away.

Activity 2 (25min): Modified game of Speed AwayTask DevelopmentExtensions (E):

Limit number of steps a player can take with the ball Certain number of passes before able to score No one can move when they have the ball, they have to pass it to get it up

Refinements (R): Focus on leading your teammates with the pass Make smooth transition from offense to defense on a turnover or score Make effective use of space provided

Application (A): Which team can score the most goals in the modified games of Speed

Away?

(3min) Closure: Review what we went over today, Traveling with the ball and Passing to a

partner Let them know what they did good in the lesson Ask them what they liked about the lesson and thank them for allowing

me to be apart of their class today
