Attendance

• Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his/her education. Texas law does not require children of Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten age to be enrolled in school. However, if a parent chooses to enroll a child in Pre-Kinder or Kindergarten, the child is under the compulsory attendance law. This section of the law requires any Pre-Kinder or Kindergarten student who is enrolled in a public school to attend school each day for the entire period the program of instruction is provided.

How to prepare your child for

Kindergarten:• Practice writing & identifying their own

name in print• Practice writing and identifying

capital/lower case letters/sounds (both in & out of order)

• Practice writing and identifying numbers 1-20 (both in & out of order)

• Improve listening comprehension skills by reading to your child nightly. Ask your child questions about the books you read together.

Remember: You are the first teacher in your child’s life, so make the most of

it!
