ANOTE ON SOURCE MATERIAL:It is our great fortune that Jack Kent had the

foresight to save much of the original artwork

and syndicate proofs for the early years of KING

AROO, primarily the dailies. His son, Jack Jr.,

has made this family heirloom available to us

so that this definitive edition of KING AROO

    provides the finest possible reproduction.

ACOMMENT ON PRESENTATION:Although KINGAROO is a humor strip, it is not

of the gag-a-day variety. Jack Kent paced the

series with clever continuities that often lasted

several weeks. As was common at the time, the daily and Sunday strips stories were

    separate because some readers subscribed

only to the Sunday paper, while others merely

bought the daily edition during their weekday

commute. Therefore, to provide a perspicuous

reading of the distinct storylines, we present

the dailies first, followed by the Sundays.
