CENT team has contributed to the latest book published by the
Synthesis Commission of the International Zeolite Associate
entitled Verified Syntheses of Zeolitic Materials, the 3rd Revised
Edition. The book contains verified synthesis procedures of
numerous zeolite frameworks intended for researchers and
specialists from academia and industry in the area of zeolites, zeo-
type porous materials, etc.
Dr. Oki Muraza of CENT contributed the procedure for synthesizing
MTT SSZ-32 (SixAlx) zeolite using isobutylamine, which results in
small crystal size as the SDA, the procedure was tested for the first
time in a rotational oven and the material was characterized using X-
ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy.

Abstract
especially in water, is very important. As a powerful analytical tool,
nanomaterial-based chemical sensors have been extensively
employed for the detection of heavy metals. These nanosensors
offer several advantages including high sensitivity, selectivity,
portability, on-site detection ability and improved performance of
devices. Moreover, the deployment of molecular recognition probe
on the nanostructures for the selective binding have enhanced the
selectivity and detection ability.
Anthropogenic release of heavy metals into the
natural waterways has become a global epidemic.
Heavy metal contamination poses serious threats

Upgrading oil sand bitumen under superheated steam over ceria-based nanocomposite catalysts
Upgrading of oil sand bitumen by catalytic cracking of its heavy oil
fraction via ceria-based catalysts was investigated in a fixed-bed
flow-type reactor, in the presence of superheated steam and
addition of water. The reaction was carried out over CeZr,
FeCoCeZr1 and FeCoCeZr2 catalysts at 470 °C, Wcat/FFeed of 0.4 h
and FH2O/Ffeed = 2. The oxygen species in the crystal lattice of the
catalysts and the surface Lewis acid sites are responsible for the
oxidative decomposition and catalytic cracking of the heavy oil,
respectively. Higher light oil yield of approximately 60 mol%-C
(gas oil and vacuum gas oil) and lowest coke yield (20.45 mol%-C)
was obtained over CeZr catalyst. FeCoCeZr1 and FeCoCeZr2 gave
lower residue and higher gas yield, with higher H2 and lower
CO2 composition when compared to CeZr. The spent catalysts
showed structural stability which is supported by the X-ray
diffraction analysis, and thermal stability which agrees to the
minimal weight loss from thermogravimetric analysis. The
catalysts also exhibited good potential for reusability based on
the analysis of the spent samples.

Frontiers, Opportunities, and Challenges in Perovskite Solar Cells: A Critical Review
Mohammed Istafaul HaqueAnsari, Ahsanulhaq Qurashi, Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin
decade of rigorous research and development in perovskite solar
cells, the efficiency is boosted upto 22%. Aforesaid high PCE is
accredited to high optical absorption properties, balanced charge
transport properties, and longer diffusion lengths of carriers. Two
dominant perovskite solar cell architecture has evolved; n-i-p,
and p-i-n with mesoporous or planar heterojunction. In planar
heterojunction configuration, perovskite light harvester is layered
between hole/electron transport layers and the electrodes. The
electron and hole transporting films increase charge collection
efficiency and reduce recombination at interfaces. In the
following review, we present a critical survey of the recent
progress in perovskite absorber and charge transport materials
that account for the exceptionally higher PCE of perovskite
devices. Furthermore, numerous fabrication techniques and
device architectures are summarized.
