Explanation: Over 36 million American adults and over 1.8 million across New York State fall into the category of "some college, no degree". Adults with some college and no degree are disproportionately students of color. A college credential is an essential driver of economic mobility. CUNY has made a commitment to better serving the needs of adult learners in NYC , particularly those with some college, no degree. Kingsborough has implemented fully online programs specifically to serve this new population of students and to close equity gaps. In turn, the amendment to our Advanced Standing Policy is in-line with CUNY initiatives to address the adult learner and equity concerns.

Students will learn the process for visualizing and designing apps for all platforms. The process includes planning, design thinking, visual design, and interaction design. Emphasis will be placed on learning the UX process, design principles, aesthetics, web and mobile design concepts, color, typography, visual communication, design elements and patterns, and design process from concept to completion. Effective: FALL 2020 Explanation: This course originated from a US Department of Labor funded initiative of CUNY Central’s Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Programs entitled “CUNY TechWorks”. At Kingsborough, CUNY TechWorks partnered with our Graphic Design faculty (Art Department) to create a User Experience (UX) Design Program. Data gathered through the grant have confirmed (1) a robust market exists for these type of technical skills and (2) these skills directly align with our Graphic Design and Illustration degree, allowing our students to be even more marketable within this field. In turn, a proposal for a future concentration in UX Design is planned under the A.S. in Graphic Design and Illustration. This course will be one of three courses that will comprise the new concentration. Currently, this course will count as the “Art Elective” under the Graphic Design and Illustration Concentration under the degree of the same name.

Course Description: This course will introduce students to key financial concepts and the application of financial analysis in making sound business decisions. Topics include: time value of money, risk and rates of return, asset valuation, capital budgeting, and capital structure. Students will gain an understanding of financial assets, financial markets, financial intermediaries and the banking system. Students will also understand financial statements (i.e. balance sheet, incomes statement, and cash flow statement) published by corporations and the various ratios utilized by investors. Upon completion of this course, students will understand and apply these concepts and skills in business decisions. Department of English AIV. 4.1: ENG 6000, Creative Writing: Screenwriting, Flexible Core, Creative Expression (Group C)

College-level essays emphasize close reading and intertextual analysis, and reading across and between texts drawn from various disciplines. This course includes an Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) component for students who are eligible for a corequisite course per CUNY English Proficiency Index guidelines. Equivalent to ENG 1200. Explanation: We currently have a Two Course Co-requisite Model s in place, ENG 1200 (English Composition I - 3 credits/4 hours) and ENG 1220 ALP (1 equated credit/2 hours) to address the required CUNY co-requisite model for some academic support as part of CUNY's Developmental Education Reform. Creation of this course allows us to move to a One-Course Model, by simply incorporating what is already in place into one course as opposed to two separate courses. Course Description: The goal of healthcare coordination is to improve patient outcomes with better care services. Care coordinators play a critical role in improving patient care. Students will learn how to effectively advocate for patients and interact with members of the healthcare team in finding solutions to provide high quality, value-based, and efficient care. Effective communication styles, assessing patient's needs and goals, and helping with patients' transitions of care are among the many topics covered in this course. Upon course completion, students will have acquired basic knowledge and skills to educate, engage, and support patients and their healthcare teams to improve health outcomes and quality of life.

Effective: FALL 2020 Explanation: This course was developed under external funding from the Petrie Foundation in response to industry need for training courses in health care coordination. Data gathered through the grant have confirmed a robust market exists for these type of specific skills in health care administration and delivery. These skills also align with our A.S. in Community Health degree, allowing our students to be even more marketable within this field. Currently, this course will count as an elective under the A.S. in Community Health degree. We are currently evaluating the potential of a Coordinated Care concentration in which this course would fall.
