Kingspan Thermataper TT47 LPC/FM

Description of Product

This is an assessment of Thermataper TT47

LPC/FM, a rigid tapered board insulation that is

designed to be used in flat roofing applications

with a fully adhered and mechanically fixed

single-ply, partially bonded built up felt, mastic

asphalt and cold liquid applied waterproofing. The Thermataper board is used to form a

“warm” unvented roof system and can be

installed over a range of common deck types.

The product is manufactured in a thickness to

suit the required roof falls, although this

cannot be less than 25mm. It has a thermal

conductivity of 0.024-0.026 W/mK and is

manufactured with a blowing agent that has

zero depletion potential and low global

warming potential. The product also holds certification from the

BBA certificate number 06/4372 and

Certification from the Loss Prevention

Certification Board certificate number 388 –

1b.

Validity

This certificate was first issued on 15th December 2015 and is valid until 15th December 2022

Issue Dated 2nd January 2020

Certificate No: EWWS548D

The TT47 board product is registered as a “Tapered Insulation Board for Flat Roofing”. It is suitable for use in a variety of

flat roof types including Steel, Concrete or Timber.

Depending on the roofing system a fire rating designation of AA, AB and AC for various constructions incorporating timber,

metal and calcium silicate board decking and is acceptable for use less than 6 m from a relevant boundary. For other roof

constructions designers should refer to the relevant guidance in the documents and Kingspan technical.

The product has a thermal conductivity of as low as 0.024-0.026 W/mK and is manufactured with a blowing agent that has

zero depletion potential and low global warming potential.

The product performance as always is dependent on correct selection and installation for each roof type/system.

It is therefore important that each board application is installed as per the manufacturer’s requirements so as to avoid, a

reduction in thermal performance.

The boards may require additional fixings if the building is to be subjected to high wind loads, therefore consultation must

take place with Kingspan for such installations and an assessment carried out in accordance with BS6399-2: 1997 or BS/I.S.

EN 1991-1-4: 2005

The deck should be clean and dry on installation and it should have been checked to see if it is free of dust, grease or other

defects that would detrimentally affect adhesion of the board.

The boards should be laid on an appropriate supporting structure and the design of the board layout and falls of a

successful system must take several factors into account such as, the position of the roof outlets, the extent of water run–off

required, the dimensions of the roof, presence of any existing falls or steps on the roof, location and dimensions of

permanent projections (such as roof lights, vents) and perimeter restrictions. For new roofs this information can be usually

identified from an architect’s drawing, on existing a survey of the roof will be required to provide a suitable solution. To

overcome any condensation issues the boards should be installed over a separate vapour control layer unless it is over a

sealed metal deck system, this vapour control layer should consist of a 1000 gauge (250 micron) polythene sheet, with all

joints lapped and sealed with double sided tape.

For applications where the insulation boards are to be bonded to the vapour control layer the minimum vapour control

layer should consist of a coated roofing felt complying with type 3B to BS747:2000 or S1P1 to BS8747:2007 for roofing.

For Scotland purposes:

The specifications and materials referred to have been assessed in accordance with the Building (Scotland) Regulations
