The Kingsville Kings

Tier II Junior “A” Hockey Club

The Kings are pleased to present the following information to our potential players. This information is for players look-

ing to play in the Greater Metro Junior “A” Hockey League during the 2019-2020 season. In our first three seasons, the

Kings have compiled an impressive 101-20-5 record, with a South Division Championship and a GMHL Russell Cup Fi-

nals appearance in 2015-16.

The Kingsville Kings are proud to play in the 1,000 seat

Kingsville Sports Complex that features an upstairs bar

and private suite in its arena.

MISSION

Our mission is to provide players with a quality and successful experience. By prepping and helping players

advance to higher levels of hockey (ACHA, NCAA or PRO). While competing for a league championship.

We provide fast, skilled and disciplined hockey for our fans and community. Our club will recruit highly

talented players from Canada, the United States and Europe to create a championship caliber team. THE LEAGUE

We play in the Greater Metro Jr. ‘A’ Hockey League (GMHL), a league committed to and mandating

development, while consisting of dedicated young athletes fully prepared to get to the highest levels of the

game and committed to developing into the highest l level of player possible.

BILLET PROGRAM

All of our out of town players are billeted with local billet families who are screened by the Kingsville Kings

Junior “A” Hockey Club Billet Coordinator. We carefully place players with families who build life-long

EDUCATION

Many post-secondary school players will take online community college classes that will transfer to any

major university. For players that would like to take high school classes; options are available at Kingsville

District High School. For players looking to take college classes in person options are available at the

University of Windsor or St Clair College. [email protected]

Andy Dowling—President /General Manager

Andy will be returning to the Kings this year for his third season as Team President and General Manager.

Andy has extensive background in teambuilding and conflict resolution. He was President and General

Manager for both the North Shore Knights Professional Club and the

Kingsville Kings Junior Club in the 2017-2018 seasons. He strives to keep the

operations of the club running smoothly and to create the family atmosphere

of the team, from the fans to the players. Community involvement and team

culture is the most important part of a successful hockey program. Andy is

looking forward to a successful season both on and off the ice.

Doug Raymond -Head Coach/Assistant. General Manager

Doug is in his third year with the Kings. He came to the Kings having

coached the Seguin Huskies and Parry Sound Islanders Jr. A hockey teams

the past three seasons. It will be his fourth year coaching in the GMHL. In the 2016-17 season, Doug led the

Parry Sound Islanders to a franchise best record of 34-7-1, where the team won the North Division

Championship, and was named a coach for the GMHL Team World All-Star, as well as receiving GMHL

Coach of the Year honors. Before coaching, Doug played his collegiate hockey at Adrian College, winning a

historic three straight ACHA National Championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Doug was also a three-time

MCHC League All-Star. He graduated from Adrian College in the spring of

2014 holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a

concentration in Sports Management. Doug played three years of junior

hockey for the Missoula Maulers of the AWHL, being named captain his last

two seasons. Outside of coaching the Islanders, Doug also works as an

assistant skating coach at competitive Edge Skating in Brighton, Michigan

where he trains hockey players to help develop and enhance their skating

stride and overall performance.

Matthias Gardiman -Assistant Coach

Matthias made his coaching debut with the Kings last season and he proved he has what it takes.

Previously playing for the Kings in their inaugural season in 2015-16, where the team made a strong run to

the Russell Cup Finals. Matthias finished second on the team in points that season, while also getting

consideration for most sportsmanlike in the league. Before playing for the

Kings, he played 3 seasons for the Thunder Bay North Stars of the SIJHL

where he is the all-time leader in points. He was the recipient of most

sportsmanlike in the 2013-14 season, a two-time second team all-star in the

league, and assistant captain for his final year with the North Stars. After

finishing his junior career in Kingsville, Matthias attended Algonquin College

earning a diploma in Business Marketing. Matthias is looking forward to a

great season.

Francois Lemay—Goalie Coach

Francois will return to the Kings for his third season as the teams goalie coach. Francois is a Quebec native, who

has spent time in the CHL playing professional hockey for the Allen Americans,

Corpus Christi Rays and Tulsa Oilers. He is also the goalie coach for the

University of Windsor Lancer’s Men’s Hockey Team. Francois currently resides

in Windsor where he runs his own goalie school, the Windsor Goalie School.

Ed Woelk—Team Trainer

Ed Woelk R. Kin, CVP is a regulated health professional registered with the College of Kinesiology of Ontario. As the

head trainer, his responsibility is to assess players injuries, refer to the appropriate treating practitioner and

determine when it is safe and suitable for the player to return to play or practice. He worked as a clinical therapist in

hospital and physiotherapy clinics with over 20 years of experience. Ed is also the OMHA’s Regional Trainer

Facilitator providing concussion and injury prevention clinics for local hockey

associations.

Kim Goyeau—Equipment Manager

Kim enters her fourth year with the Kings. A Leamington resident, Kim grew up playing hockey for the Southpoint

Capitals (Boys League). For most of these years she was the only girl on the team. Kim also played hockey in high

school, being named Captain of her graduating team and then coaching the LDSS team for a season upon

graduation. Following High School, Kim enrolled in Sports and Recreational

Management at St. Clair College. During the Kings second season in the GMHL,

Kim teamed up with the team as her Co-op Placement. As a volunteer, she

gained more experience and responsibilities being an Equipment Manager.

During the Kings third season, she was offered the full-time Equipment Manager

position. Kim sharpens the team’s skates, handles all laundry, sets the gear out

for games, and helps the Kings players with anything else they may need.
