Kinky ReggaeThis mesh-style hat is perfect for a hot day. It can also be made with cotton or sport-weight acrylic yarn. For a totally different look, add the smaller bib on page 32 to it.

Materials needed:One 3.5 oz (100 g) skein worsted-weight yarn each in colors A, B, and C

Size J/10 (6 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge

For covering elastic, size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook

DirectionsLargeUsing color A, ch 4 and join with sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 10 hdc in ring, join, cut off yarn. Join color B.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in 2nd st from hook, 2 hdc in ea st to end, join. (20 sts). Cut off yarn. Join color C.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *(1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st), repeat from * around, join. (30 sts). Cut off yarn. Join color A.

Rnd 4: Ch 3, *(1 dc in next st, ch 1), repeat from * around, join. (30 sts)

Rnd 5: Ch 4, *(1 dc in next st, ch 2), repeat from * around. (30 sts)

Rnds Repeat Rnd 5. Cut off yarn. 6–7: Join color B.

Rnds Repeat Rnd 5. Cut off yarn. 8–11: Join color C.

You can use a small Kinky Reggae as a bun holder.

Medium Follow pattern for Large through Rnd 7. Join color B.

Rnds Repeat Rnd 5. Cut off yarn. 8–10: Join color C.
