1. Preparing Vehicle

a) Make sure vehicle is parked on a level surface.b) Set parking brake.c) If engine has run in the past two hours let it cool down.d) Disconnect the negative battery terminal.e) Do not discard stock components after removal of the factory system.

2. Removal of Stock System

a) Disconnect themass air flow (MAF)sensor.

c) Remove the massairflow sensor fromthe intake tube (Besure to keep in a safeplace to be usedlater.).

d) Unclip VSV hosefrom intake tube.

b) Disconnectbreather hose fromintake tube.

i) Remove air filterelement.

j) Remove the 3 boltsholding the air box inplace.

e) Remove the VSVfrom intake tube byremoving this screw.(Be sure to keep in asafe place to be usedlater.)

f) Remove wire har-ness bracket, useneedle nose pliers tounclip.

h) Release hoseclamp securing theintake tube to thethrottle body. Thenremove the intaketube/air box lid as-sembly.

g) Unclip air box lid,but do not remove.

k) Remove fuse boxlid.

l) Tilt the air filterhousing up towardsthe engine and useneedle-nose pliers tounclip the MAF sen-sor/VSV wire harnessfrom the housing.

o) Raise the front ofcar and remove driverside front wheel.

p) Remove driver sidesplash shield.

m) Remove upper clipsecuring the lowerintake tube.

n) Remove secondclip from lower intaketube. Then removethe lower intake tube.

q) Remove the screwand clips holding onthe driver side fenderliner.

r) Pull driver sidefender liner awayfrom front fender andsecure behind frontbrake rotor.

s) Remove bolt secur-ing ground wire to thechassis.

d) Install the lower intakepipe from inside the wheelwell (Keep plastic onintake pipe to preventscratching). Slide upperbracket over rubbermount, loosely secure with6mm washer and 6mmnut (remove plastic)

e) Loosely securelower bracket with6mm washer and6mm nut.

3. Installation of Cold Air Intake System.

a) When installing the intake system , DO NOT completely tighten the hose clamps or mounting tab hardware until instructed to do so.

b) Secure the groundstrap to the chassiswith the short rubbermount (1228599) M6star washer and M6nut in the ordershown.

c) Install the longrubber mount(1228598).

f) Attach air filter tolower intake pipe andsecure with #52 hoseclamp.

j) Install upper intaketube into hump hoseconnected to thethrottle body.

g) Install MAF sensorinto upper intake pipeusing supplied screws(1-2051)

k) Align upper intaketube with lower intaketube and slide couplerover upper intake tubeso that the couplercovers both tubesevenly, loosely securethe three #48 hoseclamps

h) Install the small endof the hump hose (5-574) onto the throttlebody and secure with#40 hose clamp. Installa #48 hose clamploosely over the largeend of the hump hose.

i) Slide the coupler (5-302) and two #48hose clamps over thelower intake pipe.

m) Use the screwremoved in 2e tosecure the VSV andharness bracket (7-7717) to the bracketon the upper intakepipe. Reconnect shortvacuum line.

n) Re install the MAFwire harness.

o) Use zip tie tree (1-127) to secure wireharness.

p) Connect thebreather hose to thenipple on the upperintake pipe.

l) Remove shortvacuum hose fromVSV and route thelong vacuum hosearound the outside ofthe short vacuumhose.

4. Reassemble Vehicle

a) Position the inlet pipes for best fitment. Be sure that the pipes or any other components do not contact any part ofthe vehicle. Tighten the rubber mount, all bolts , nuts, screws, and hose clamps.

b) Reinstall the fender liner, splash shield, and driver side wheel.c) Reinstall the fuse coverd) Check for proper hood clearance. Readjust pipes if necessary and re-tighten them.e) Confirm that the air filter does not contact any surfacesf) Inspect the engine bay for any loose tools and check that all fasteners that were moved or removed are properly

tightened.g) Reconnect the negative battery cable to the terminal.h) Start engine. Let car idle for 3 minutes. Perform a final inspection before driving vehicle.

AEM Air Intake System Warranty Policy

AEM warrants that its intake systems will last for the life of your vehicle. AEM will not honor this warranty due to mechanical damage (i.e. improper installation or fitment), damage

from misuse, accidents or flying debris. AEM will not warrant its powdercoating if the finish has been cleaned with a hydrocarbon-based solvent. The powdercoating should only be

cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. Proof of purchase of both the vehicle and AEM intake system is required for redemption of a warranty claim.

This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the AEM part. In no event shall this warranty exceed the original purchase price of the AEM part nor shall AEM be responsible forspecial, incidental or consequential damages or cost incurred due to the failure of this product. Warranty claims to AEM must be transportation prepaid and accompanied with dated proofof purchase. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of product and is non-transferable. Improper use or installation, use for racing, accident, abuse, unauthorized repairs oralterations voids this warranty. AEM disclaims any liability for consequential damages due to breach of any written or implied warranty on all products manufactured by AEM. Warrantyreturns will only be accepted by AEM when accompanied by a valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Credit for defective products will be issued pending inspection.Product must be received by AEM within 30 days of the date RMA is issued.

5. Service and Maintenence

a) It is recommended that you service you AEM dryflow filter every 20,000 miles for optimum performance. UseAEM Dryflow cleaning kit part #21-110.

b) Use aluminum polish to clean your polished AEM Cold Air intake pipe.c) Use window cleaner to clean your powder coated AEM Cold Air intake pipe.

(NOTE: DO NOT USE ALUMINUM POLISH ON A POWDER COATED AEM COLD AIR INTAKE PIPE)
