Kitchen & Table Linens
The term "Linen" is generally used to describe a
class of woven and knitted fabrics used in and on
beds, bath, tables, and in kitchens. Originally,
many household items were made out of linen, but
today, the term has is more often applied to
related items that are not true linen; other items
made of cotton or various synthetic materials.
Use of linen textiles dates back thousands of
years, making them some of the oldest textiles in
the world. While function may have changed
throughout the years, linen is still a prized textile
and is used for both simple and elegant purposes.
One of the most common uses for linen is on the
dinner table. Multiple forms of this fabric are used
to decorate an eating-place, giving it a welcoming
and relaxed feel. Some of the common types of
table linens are listed and discussed below.
A tablecloth is simply a cloth that is used to cover
a table. There are many factors to consider when
choosing a tablecloth. Typically, tablecloths are
made of cotton or an artificial fabric, so that they
wipe clean easily. There is other more expensive
options as well, including cloths made from silk,
lace, or linen. In addition to the fabric used, one
must decide on the quality of cloth needed, as wellas the style and shape. The basic function of a
tablecloth is to protect the table underneath it from
being scratched, stained, or damaged in some
way, but they may also be used for decoration. By
placing the tablecloth on the table in a certain way
and by coordinating with other items on the table,
a unique dinner setting can be achieved. The
possibilities of how to position the tablecloth are
many, but once decided upon, coordinating the
rest of the table is a little easier.
Similar to a tablecloth, a table runner may also be
used as protection and decoration for a table. A
table runner is like a small version of a tablecloth,
so it only covers part of the table. It can be placed
in a way that allows part of the surface of the table
to be revealed, or it can be placed over a
tablecloth to give an added decorative flair. Most
commonly, runners are used as placemats when
placed across the width of a table, or as a
protected spot for other decorations down thecenter of the table.
If a runner is not used, traditional placemats may
be placed at each seat instead. A placemat is a
protective pad usually made out of cloth, paper, or
plastic. Their primary function is to protect the
table from food, heat, or water damage, but they
are also used for decoration. Cloth placemats are
used more commonly for decorating, especially
ones made of lace, silk, or other fine fabrics.
Adding to the decorative theme of a table is the
napkin, or serviette. In many cases the napkin is a
simple rectangle of cloth or paper that is used for
wiping the mouth and hands while eating. While it
is simply folded and placed to the left of the place
setting, in high-end restaurants and at fancy
dinners, the napkin may be folded into more
elaborate shapes and displayed on the plate.
It is clear that
linens have a widevariety of forms
and functions in
the world. The
quality and
comfort that they
can offer is
unmatched as they
continue to be a
part of the dining
experience. The
fact that they have
become such a

large part of that experience shows how engrained
they are in society. Meal times are one of the most
important times of the day, so it is no wonder that
we would want the calm look and relaxed feel that
linens can bring to the dinner table
Tablecloth
A table cloth is a cloth used to cover a table.
Typically table cloths are made of cotton or
artificial fabrics. They are often designed to be
easy to wipe clean. More expensive items may be
made from silk, linen or lace. While many table
cloths are meant to protect the table from being
stained or
scratched,
they may also
be used purely
for decorative purposes,
either hanging
near two ends
vertically over
two parallel
edges of the table, or hang mostly vertical along
all four edges of the table, with bunched folds
hanging at the four corners of the table.
A popular "magic
trick " involved
pulling a loaded
tablecloth away
from a table but
leaving the plates
behind. This trick
relies on inertia

Place Mats, Linen is an excellent filter protecting
against a chemically aggressive medium and dust.It is capable of rapidly absorbing and yielding
moisture. It can absorb as much as 20% of its dry
weight. Thus, linen cloth always feels fresh and
cool. Made of linen in the traditional styles, the
practical and attractive place mats provide plenty
of insulation, to help protect precious surfaces.

casual or formal occasion. They have the capacity
to turn an ordinary meal into an elegant dining
experience. Their woven blend of natural fibers
has the strength, durability and elegance of linencombined with its versatility, ease of care and
performance.
Towel
A towel is a piece of absorbent fabric or paper
used for drying or wiping. It draws moisture
through direct contact using a blotting or a
rubbing motion
Types of towels
• A bath
towel is
used for
drying
one's
body
after bathing
or
showering. It is typically rectangular, with
a typical size around 30"×60" (75×150
cm). A large bath towel is sometimes
called a bath sheet . Some smaller bath
towels are designed for use as bath mats.
• A beach towel is usually a little bit larger
than a bath towel. Although it is often used
for drying off after being in the water, its
chief purpose is to provide a surface to lie
on to relax or just to tan. They are also
worn for privacy while changing clothes in
a public area, and for wiping sand from the
body or objects. Beach towels often have
colorful patterns printed or woven into
them.
• A change of towels, as supplied by maid
service in an American-style hotel, is one
bath towel, one hand towel, and one
washcloth.• A foot towel is a small, rectangular towel
which, in the absence of a rug, carpet or
bathroom mat, is placed on the bathroom
floor to stand on after finishing a shower
or bath.
• A hand towel is significantly smaller than
a bath towel (perhaps 30x60 cm), and is
used for drying one's hands after washing
them.
• An "Owen" towel is a multi-purpose
household towel used for a kitchen or shopapplications. The term came into use
within Irish communities after a textile
mogul; Owen Valley created the line based
off his own towel experiences.
• The term kitchen towel can refer to either a
dish towel or to a paper towel, the latter
usage being primarily British.
• A paper towel is a piece of paper that can
be used once as a towel and then be
disposed of. A perforated roll of paper
towels is normally mounted on a rod alittle longer than the width of the roll, or in
an alternative type of hanger that has
protrusions on ears, the protrusions fitting
into the ends of the paper towel roll. Paper
towels can also be found packaged like
facial tissues, as individual folded sheets.
• A show towel is a sub species of the
common bath or hand towel that has had
trim, such as satin, lace or linen stitched
onto it, or embroidery done on it, mainly
to simply "look nice". They are used toadd a decorative touch, usually to a

bathroom, most commonly in the USA.
They should not be used to actually dry
anything, as regular washing ruins the
added trim, and the towel buckles as well
(because the towel usually shrinks
differently than the trim).
• A sports towel or
chamois is a
towel used by
swimmers and
divers, it is a
super absorbent towel that wipes water
away and when it becomes too wet and
can be squeezed to get the water out of the
towel so it can be used again.
•
A sweat towel is often of similar size to ahand towel, and can be required in gyms in
order to wipe down the machines after use.
• A tea towel (British English) or dish towel (American English) is a cloth which is
used to dry dishes, cutlery, etc., after they
have been washed. In 18th century
England, a tea towel was a special linen
drying cloth used by the mistress of the
house to dry her precious and expensive
china tea things. Servants were considered
too ham-fisted to be trusted with such adelicate job, although housemaids were
charged with hand-hemming the woven
linen when their main duties were
completed. Tea towels began being mass-
produced during the Industrial Revolution.
• A washcloth, wash cloth, flannel , or facecloth is a small square about the width of a
hand towel, and is used by wetting,
applying soap to the towel, and then using
the towel to apply the soap to skin. This
increases abrasion, and can remove deadskin cells from the skin more effectively
than just manual application and rubbing
of soap.
• A wet towel (oshibori) is used in Japan to
wash one's hands before eating. It is often
given to customers of an izakaya.
Alternative uses
Towels are often used for purposes other thandrying things. For example
• To sit, lie and stand on, to avoid direct
contact with the ground, sand, rock, chair,
etc. This may be for hygiene and comfort,
and in saunas or other places where nudity
is common.
• Barbers use steamed towels to prepare the
skin for shaving.• To reserve seats, for example sun
loungers, by the side of swimming pools
or similar locations (a source of annoyance
to some and amusement to others).
• A towel can act as a make-shift garment or
blanket. There is a variety of uses when a
towel is applied in this manner. For
example, the towel can be used as an extra
layer of clothing for cold conditions; or
can be worn on its own around the waist
(similarly to a kilt or skirt) or just under the shoulders (similarly to a long dress),
usually in a warm environment.
• In Asian countries, towels (smaller in size
than hand towels - usually 30 cm square)
are used as handkerchiefs. Men and
women both carry them. The softness of
the Turkish-type towel makes it a favorite
for use.
• In some cases, a towel can be used to
protect its owner (as well as other people).
For example, a damp towel can be used to
block the gap between the door and floor
to help stop noxious gases or smoke from
entering the room. This is especially useful
in case of a fire, where, in most cases,
people die of smoke inhalation before the
fire reaches them.
• On cruise ships, towel animals are created
for the patrons.
• Towels can also be used like a whip in
what is known as towel snapping.• To hold hot objects, much like an oven
glove.

• Towels may also be used as a head dress
for wet hair.
• Towels can be used as a "sling" for a
broken arm.
• Towels are often used for "ice blocking."
• In boxing or other combat sports, a
fighter's corner man could throw a towel
into the ring to concede the fighter's defeat
in that match. This is called "throwing in
the towel."
• At sporting events, sometimes towels are
handed out to fans to wave around to cheer
on their team.
• A slang term used to describe a douche
bag
Napkin
A napkin or
serviette is a
rectangle of cloth
or paper used at
the table for wiping the mouth
while eating. It is
usually small and
folded. The word
comes from Middle English, borrowing the
French nappe —a cloth covering for a table—and
adding -kin, the diminutive suffix.
The word napkin also refers to a cloth diaper in
the South Asian region, often a reusable,
triangular cloth sewn at home.
Conventionally, the napkin is folded and placed to
the left of the place setting, outside the outermost
fork . In an ambitious restaurant setting or a
caterer's hall, it may be folded into more or less
elaborate shapes and displayed on the empty plate.
A napkin may also be held together in a bundle
(with cutlery) by a napkin ring. Alternatively,
paper napkins may be contained with a napkin
holder .
Great inventions or ideas are stereotypically first
conceived on a paper napkin. An example of such
an idea is J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.
A napkin is also a small scarf placed on the head
by a woman entering a Roman Catholic Church as
a conventional token of modesty. This practice is
largely extinct in modern times.
The word serviette in lieu of term napkin is not
typically used in the United States, but in
Canada the two Napkins
Table and kitchen linens are incomplete without
napkins. Napkins are a must-have item in your
kitchen. Similarly, a dining table with its runner,
placemats, and cover looks slightly empty without
napkins. Whether to wipe your hands face,
cleaning utensils, and napkins are multi-purposetable linens. At the same time, napkins if properly
folded give an enhanced look to your entire dining
room set-up. A large variety of decorative and
designer napkins are perfect in terms of
maintaining hygiene and adding glitter to
household.
Designs of Napkins
The beautiful napkins are available in wide
varieties of designs and can be custom-designed in
accordance with the specifications and demands
of different customers. They add a welcome touch
of cheer and soft color to casual table settings.

like:
• Cotton Napkins
•
Linen Napkins
• Paper Napkins
