To Prevent Cuts:• Cut away from you.• Cut only on a cutting board.• Keep your fingers away from
the knife.• Hold a knife only by the
handle.• Wash knives separately.• Use caution with sharp
objects like can lids.

TO PREVENT BURNS:
• keep pot handles turned away from the edge.
• Use pot holders or oven mitts on hot objects
• Use a wooden spoon to stir hot foods.
• Tilt pot lids away from you

• no flammables on stove top.
• no loose, flowing garments.
• clean grease off oven and stove top.

• Keep the floor uncluttered.
• Use only sturdy stools or ladders to reach high objects.

• don’t use appliances with frayed cords.
• keep appliances away from water and wet hands.
• avoid an “electrical octopus.

• Store chemicals out of children’s reach.
• Don’t store chemicals near food.
• Open a window and turn off the stove if you smell gas.

• Wash hands before and after working with food.
• Wash hands after sneezing, coughing or bathroom use.
• Tie back long hair.
• Keep work surfaces and kitchen equipment clean

• Store perishables immediately!
