Kite making Competition Adding another blooming bud to the bouquet of activities, kite making and colouring competition was organized on 8 th January, 2016 for the students of classes I to VIII. The students participated in the activity with full zeal and fervor. It was wonderful opportunity for the students to showcase their creativity, manifested in the form of beautiful vibrant kites made by them. Evidently, the imagination of the students took a new flight as one could see kites in various hues and shapes. On the whole the competition was a learning and joyous experience. The best 2 from each Std. were awarded prizes. Judges of this competition were Mrs. Simran Pamnani, Mrs Daksha Joshi and Ms. Arti Chainani. February, 2016

Kite making Competition

Adding another blooming bud to the bouquet of activities, kite making and colouring competition was organizedon 8th January, 2016 for the students of classes I to VIII. The students participated in the activity with full zeal andfervor. Rhymes competition was held by pre-primary section on 8th January, 2016. The competition wasdivided into 3 groups according to their class i.e Playhouse, L.K.G and U.K.G. The base of thecompetition was action and pronunciation. At the end prizes were given to the winners on the basisof their performance. Consolation prizes were given to other participants.

Report of Essay CompetitionOn 13th January, 2016 Essay competition wasorganised in S.H.N. Academy English Schoolfor the students of primary section i.e. Std. V toXII as per order received from DEO office.

The Essay competition was organised as a partof celebration of 26th January (Republic Day)by the HRD, Ministry New Delhi. The topicsfor the Essay were “Swachh Bharat-SwasthBharat” and “Beti Bachao-Beti Badhao”. In thiscompetition the students were asked to writeessay on the topic of their choice. They had towrite essay in 200 to 300 words and the timegiven to them was 45 minutes. Around 30students participated in this competition withgreat enthusiasm.

This type of competition helps students to comeout with new ideas & views, they are alsoencouraged to participate and compete withother students.

The name of the winner is Mital Dafda fromStd. 6th & her topic was “Beti Bachao-BetiBadhao” and Komal Dadlani from Std. XItopic was “Swachh Bharat-Swasth Bharat”.

On 15th January 2016, kite flying day was celebrated in all the sections of SHN Academy English School. Thekite flying competition was organized for the primary, secondary and higher secondary section. All the studentsparticipated in this celebration with great pleasure and enthusiasm. “Til chiki” and “ Til Laddu” were distributedamong students and teachers in traditional way.

All the students and teachers enjoyed this kite flying festival very much. The names of the winners are :

Kite flying celebration for parents was held on 16th January, 2016 by pre-primary section. Parents were invitedfor the celebration. All the students and parents gathered on the terrace. The parents flew kites and their childrenalso joined them. All the parents and children enjoyed the celebration very much.

Laurels by student of S.H.N. Academy :

On 18th January, 2016 lecture by Retired Prof. Ishwar Chandnani of Tolani F. G. Polytechnic, on TimeManagement was organized in our school.

He made the students understand the importance of time and asked the students various questions about theirleisure time.

He asked the students where their time is being wasted. In order to reduce the time wasting area and getorganized, he told the students to decide their goals, reduce stress, to develop self confidence and to work indiscipline.

He also explained them about spending time by using graphs and figures.

Time Management

On 16th January, 2016 prize distributionceremony was held at Bhuj, in which winnersof school level competitions of Kutch wereawarded memento and shawl forparticipating in Essay, Elocution and Debatecompetitions conducted on the occasion of125th Birthday Celebration of BabasahebBhimrao Ambedkar conducted by Govt. ofGujarat.

In the competition Kajal Tilwani of Std. X ofour school, who participated in Essaycompetition won 2nd prize at district level.She was awarded memento and shawl by ShriKeshubhai Patel (President - Kutch District,BJP).

S H N Academy participated in the ‘Shradhanjali’ programme on Shahid Hemu Kalani Martyr Day held on 21stJanuary, 2016. The programme was organized by Sindhi Yuva Mandal and Bhartiya Sindhu Vidhyapeeth (IndianInstitute of Sindhology) at Gandhi Samadhi, Adipur.Along with S H N Academy the students of Kanya Maha Vidyalay and Matri Maha Vidyalaya also participated.Poem of Kavi Hundraj Dukhayal was recited by Mr. Roshan Goplani of IIS. Honourable members, teachers andstudents paid homage by offering flowers to Sahid Hemu Kalani.After this programme, all the students, teachers and other members went to Shahid Hemu Kalani’s statue. Allprayed there and garlanded his statue.The programme ended with distribution of Prasad.

Every year Government of Gujarat organizes Khel Mahakumb. In this the students participate for various sportsactivities. Our school also participated in this Khel Mahakumb in various sports at taluka level.On 21st January 2016, Kho-Kho match for Girls under 16 and on 22nd January 2016, Kabbadi match for Girls of under13 was organised.On 22nd January 2016, Kabbadi match for Boys under 16 and under 13 was organised.The boys and girls of our school participated with great enthusiasm and gave a tough fight to the opponent team.

Khel Mahakumbh

Republic DayIn SHN Academy, on 26th January, 2016 we had celebrated 67th Republic Day. The honourable guests were Prof.H.K. Kripalani( Secretary of SHNA) Dr. Satish Rohra (Vice Chairman of SHNA ), Shri Kamal Nihalani (Directorof Indian Institute of Sindhology). Shri Pritam Varyani, and other staff members of IIS.The Principal Mrs. Sarla Abichandani, all the teachers & students had gathered to celebrate the 67th Republic Day.Programme started with our National song “Vande Mataram” . The flag was hoisted by Bhavisha Asnani of Std IXfollowed by National Anthem.To honour & show the gratitude and respect to our National flag the students performed March past & saluted theTri-colour.Students of secondary section performed dance on the songs ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘Suno Gor Se Duniya Walo ‘whichshowed their dedication towards their country.Speech was given by Komal Dadlani of std. XI and patriotic song was sung by the girls of secondary section inboth hindi and sindhi language. Pyramids, Lezims and Dumbbells exercises were presented by the students ofprimary section. Ms. Daksha Joshi – Teacher of SHN Academy School, addressed the gathering.Ms. Kusum Hans Incharge Head-mistress - Primary section proposed the vote of thanks.

Science ActivityScience Activity was arranged on 28th January, 2016 for the students of standard V, VI, VII and VIII. Thestudents were given some topics related to scientific principles and had to make the objects based on them. Thetopics were based on scientific instruments, environment, pollution, first aid given during calamities, anddifferent circuits etc.

The students got the knowledge to make these things and understood the science behind these objects. Studentswere very excited and enthusiastic doing this activity.

Allthe students actively tookpart in the competition.1st, 2nd and 3rd prizeswere given to the winnerson the basis of theirneatness in colouring. Allthe students enjoyed thecompetition.

Report of Final Match

Cricket series of 20-20 match was organized by Sunrise Cricket club on 15th January, 2016. Threeteams participated.

1. SHN Academy English School 2. Learners Academy 3. Sunrise Cricket Club

The first match of this series was between the students of SHN Academy and learners Academy. Thestudents of SHNA won that series by 7 wickets and entered in final.

Final match was between Sunrise Cricket Club and SHN Academy English School on 31.1.2016 i. e.Sunday at Shivdhara ground. It was under 16 cricket tournament of 20 overs.

SHN Academy’s captain Hitesh Kewalramani won the toss and chose the fielding first. Opposite teamfinished its innings with 132 runs for six wickets. The target for our school was 133 runs which wascompleted in 14th over losing 3 wickets. Our score was 137, and won the series of 2016.

Winning trophy was received by captain with his team. Man of the Match was Tarun Lalwani (std.X)who made 55 runs in 45 balls and Best Bowler of the series was Vishal Talreja (std IX). Man of theMatch in first match was given to Rohit Dafda (STd.XI). All the three players won the trophies &awards by Sarpanch of Shivdhara.

Drawing and craft activityOn 29th January, 2016 various activities were arranged in primary section for the students of Std. I to IV.

Activities were: Students of Std. I recognized the pictures of fruits and vegetables given to them and stick themon the paper. The students of Std. II made craft work using buttons and colour papers. Students of Std. III madeflower pot through Thumb painting and students of Std. IV made our national flag by crumpling the colour papers.Such activities help the students to be creative and innovative.
