Toxizität - Selenose

• Selen und Selenverbindungen sind giftig.

• Direkter Kontakt schädigt die Haut (Blasenbildung) und

Schleimhäute.

• Eingeatmetes Selen kann zu Lungenschäden führen.

• Eine Selen-Aufnahme von mehr als 3000 µg/d kann zu

Leberzirrhose, Haarausfall und Herzinsuffizienz führen.

• U.U. kann es bereits ab 400 µg/d zu Vergiftungserscheinungen wie

Übelkeit und Erbrechen, Haarverlust, Nagelveränderungen,

periphere Neuropathie und Erschöpfung kommen.

•As outlined before selenium is considered the

cornerstone of antioxidant defense mechanism and may

be one of the most important antioxidants, which may

attenuate the perioperative inflammation and reduce

development of organ dysfunctions that frequently

determines a prolonged ICU stay 10. Yet, only limited

data obtained from small cohorts of patients exists that

highlights the crucial role of this trace element in cardiac

surgery patients.

•Our primary outcome for this trial is “persistent organ

dysfunction+death, which will be evaluated as a

biologische Prozesse im Rahmen der Immunabwehr !

• Bei kritisch Kranken: inverse Assoziation zwischen Selen -

Plasmakonzentration und Mortalität (v.a. bei Sepsis) !

• Kleinere klinische zeigen teilweise positive Effekte einer

Hochdosis - Selen Therapie !

• Dieser Effekt bestätigt sich nicht Meta-Analysen !

• Perspektivisch gilt es besser herauszuarbeiten, welche

Patienten profitieren, und welche nicht !
