Old FriendsAs some of you may know recently team of our computers had some problems. Some where not able to connect internet, some where not launching some were refusing to cooperate with printer and scanner. I found out that they had problems with working with team. So I decided to do something about it. And I took a chance to present them to you.

Here comes member of our Computers Teams

Title: Computer number: 01

Well this is our first member. And in same time the best one. He never had a down in working he was always willing to help. His only problem was that he was unable to communicate with printer or scanner. But we deal this issue with and now he will serve you with this too ;)

Ok so with guys you had recently problems working with for sure. Actually his main problem was that he wanted to skip AIESEC and to do it he decided to stop giving us internet. He was pretty stubborn but a long talk allowed us to find out solution to his personal problems and now he want to work with us again.

Happy Computer02 now is serving with printer scanner, wifiand what ever you want. (Just be nice to him he seems to have difficult attitude)

Title: Comp 04 aka. “Fujitsu Siemens”

This is the an oldie in our team. No one knows how he really is and he himself doesn’t seem to want to speak about.Because of his age he is slow and needs real care. If you need his help don’t hesitate to ask him. But I would suggest you to use his younger colleagues in the first place.Although his age and slow motion he still serves with printing scanning and internet so be nice to this granpa ;)

Note: As you might found out, recently this guy had problem with keeping his parts together. He undertook and operation of taking them together with tape. But be careful with him.

So finally we come to this one. This guy was the leader of the team for so long. He was helping you on each conference and everyday in office with using printer and scanner when others couldn’t.

Unfortunately he paid high price for this service. He had problems with its hard drive that crashed so now he is patiently waiting for transplantation. We hope soon new heart will start to beat inside his chest and he will be able to come back to his duty.

Note he is now unconscious in coma. So please don’t try to make fun of him by clicking his buttons….

Printer HP LaserJet

This girl you all know well.

I must tell you that after our full Saturday teamdays with external coach this young lady decided to stop cry after his earlier partner Computer03 (he is now in coma) and agreed to match with other team members.

Now she happily prints everything that currently connected guy will ask her for.

Although I though that this competition for one girl might not be good and so I invited a new person to the team who grabbed her heart and they become a couple.

So what is important for from this relationship (ofcoursebeside gossip) will come later when I introduce you our new member.

Scanner Epson V10

This guy is one hard to cooperate in team with.Not only he not always want to work if not asked politely yet he didn’t want to cooperate with many of our team mates. He only liked the 03 guy, and of course Siemens grandpa – no one understand this second relation but they tend to like each other.After team days we dealt with this behavior and now he cooperates with everybody.

Well nearly everybody. He refuse to work with new guys. I we suspect that he is jealous about the Printer ;/Poor Guy

“New Blood” in team

I am really happy to announce you that our computer team has a new friend.

Name: KLUW mniServerMaybe some of you noticed this guys sitting in our office and doing nothing. So I invited him into cooperation with AIESEC.

Right now this guy is a very special guy. He keeps connected with all other computers and printer and he makes the role of logistics master.

Saying more accurate he is the mini server that can store up to around 100 GB of data. He is accessible by wifi from every computer in the office and its possible to access him from your houses (about it later)

Also he is connected to printer which means every computer can print documents now by using wifi without need to connect to the printer itself.

Although new to AIESEC this guys is already and adept, he is pretty old so please be careful to not make him trouble in spot where he is standing.

And very immportant thing:

Don’t switch it off!!!!!

Printing on DemandSo it was always hard for us to switch the cable in and out to print. Now its all un needed.

Now every computer is able to print by default printer which is connected to our stationary mini server to make it just simply make sure the mini server computer is on (green light at front).

And then just select on your computer printer called “HP Laser Jet on Kluwserver” and click print. Vuala.

How to print from your own computer?That’s super easy. You just have to go into command line by clicking (Win+r):

Type in \\kluwserver\and click ok:

After short while you will get such window.

Than you have to double click on HP laserjet icon

And after this just follow the installation of drivers. Unfortunately I don’t yet enable them on server so you will have to download them yourself from the site or use computers that are in office because they have it already installed.

Note*: On special demands its possible that you will be able to use office printer from your home or anywhere for example to print something for person you know is in office.

Hard CasesAs our beloved printer is working with all this new software. Scanner EPSON as I told you is refusing to cooperate so just for now you have to connect it as in the past to your computers.

Each office computer has on desktop the icon of scanner you have to use it in order to scan just double click it and follow the instructions.

I hope that soon I will be able to enable scanner just like printer is now enabled. But until this time use it in traditional way.

So how it all works :PBasically the stationary computer is a samba server linux that is allowing file sharing and Printer sharing over the network that we have created in our office.

So this is all how its build. Not complicated at all right :P

So as in the subject AIESEC materials computers and all the stuff is our common goal and we should learn how to share in appropriate way. So I would like to mention two things as follows:

Project spaceCommon laptop space

So I decided that to keep our computer space easy to use and organized I will start removing all files from computers.

That means everything saved on desktop and in download directory will be erased weekly or monthly depending on my time to that.

But….

I want you to erase files you work from Laptop after you finish working in it.

To make our desktops look like this:

So to make up for this I will offer you a space where you can keep all your files that you need to share with team.

Also you will be able to access this folder from any computer in office and if you need so I can enable you this from outside (later more about it)

This is where you can keep your common files. Reach it by going to “My Computer” -> Drive Z:

Change an office for cozy house :DAs we all know there is very little people that love to spend time in office so I come up with possyblity for you to acces our printer and files on mini server from anywhere around the world.

So How it work:

Personal Computers

WinSCP

Putty

Hamachi

Because we cant forward our information trough the university network, we have to createe our own virtual network so our computers at homes and our server in office will think that they are connected to one router. This we can manage by fooling them with program cold Hamachi. It creates a virtual network with own IP addresses so computers and server are bound by it and can communicate.After managing this Program WinSCP allows us to freely copy, move, remove, upload, download our files into and out of KLUW server as well as using printer from your home (don’t use it please :P ).

If someone is a Linux user program Putty enables him to enter command line fo KLUW server so you are basically on it.

Though this functionality will be LIMITED to those who need it and will approach me to get the access. (Preferable EB and PRs. )

• Computer 01, 02, 04(fujitsu) all work, connect to internet, work with scanner and printer.

• Computer 03 – due to destroyed hard drive will be unavailable until I organize new one.

• In office is a new stationary computer that serves as file server and print server (scan server yet to come). It is highly forbidden to switch it of or do anything with it. Let it just stand and work!!!!

• If you want to print something make sure Server is switch on (green light) then just select as a printer the printer called “Hp LaserJet on KLUW server”. It should work from any computer.

• To print by wifi with your own computer you have to install drivers. How to do it is describe on page 7.

• To use scanner you have to connect it manualy to computer. And use program on the desktop. (Buttons on scanner don’t work). All computers in office should be able to scan.

• We keep download folder and desktop clean from files we created. At end of week or month they will be erased.

• On KLUW server you have space for your projects. Where you can store files accessible for everyone. Please keep it organized though it will be part of your TO. How to access them – read on page 11.

• There is possibility to access those files and printer from anyplace around the world. To get such access contact your Information Manager. More info on page 12.

Boring Summary

I hope that you liked my first own booklet and that it was funny enough for you to read.For those who don’t have time to to read (I hope some people will read it, I spend quite some time on it :P), so for those I prepare the most important facts in this summary:

In the end of this my very first booklet and very first about IM part I want stress up one thing.

We have very limited resources that we have to care about to use as long as we can. And as you can see our computers and staff are longer in committee than most of us :P

Then I want to ask all of you so we use it with care and respect anywhere, if we borrow it for presentations, on conferences or use it in office.

We are all responsible for them. Its all our common goods.

So lets follow this understanding of our 6th AIESEC Value and take extra care about our small friends ;)
