Before joining academia, she had worked in different positions with private enterprises in different industries. Her research interests include small business management, SME succession/transfers, knowledge management, intellectual capital (risk) management and corporate governance. Her work has received several awards, including the Transeo Academic Award in 2012. She has a PhD from University of Paris XI (France) and holds a Master in Finance from University of Skövde. Abstract The aging workforce will soon lead to massive number of retirements in SMEs that can’t be compensated for by the smaller number of succeeding individuals. On the other hand, knowledge is viewed as the key resource that needs to be developed and stay competitive. Consequently, SMEs need to find ways to cope with the demographic challenge and its possible consequences in order to stamp the pending loss to their knowledge repository. If they fail to address this challenge, their knowledge stock is especially vulnerable when critical staff leaves. This talk by Susanne Durst will address the above challenge and more in detail. Speaker: Dr. Susanne Durst Assistant Professor, University of Liechtenstein Researcher, School of Technology and Society, University of Skövde (Sweden)
