To minimise the eects o condensation:

UseWerShied to increase protectionagainst moisture.

Use moisture barriers, sarking, and insulation.However, it is important that the right type is

selected or the construction type and that it isinstalled correctly. [Reer to the manuacturersspecifcations]

Use oil backed insulation under metal roos asthey are susceptible to orming condensation.

Install eave vents, gable vents and rooventilators in the roo cavity. [Reer to Figure 2]

Remove humidity rom bathrooms via anexhaust an to the outside.

In hot and humid climates where the buildingis air-conditioned below the dew point o

the outside air, the wall and ceiling ramingmembers and internal linings should be ullyprotected by moisture barriers to separatethem rom the humid external air. The moisturebarriers should be thermally insulated tomaintain them at a temperature above thedew point.

Use a quality paint system to provide protectionagainst paint peeling and condensationsoaking into plasterboard and compounds.

To achieve a good quality painted nish,the ollowing recommendations in addition tothe three coat paint system should be ollowed:

Apply paint according to the manuacturersrecommendations.

Avoid spraying or brushing which requireadvanced application techniques.

Choose white or light colours and fator low sheen paints.

Select a Level 5 Finish when using medium to high

gloss paints and dark colours, especially in areaso glancing light. These paints highlight any minorimperections in the plasterboard and make thejoints more visible.
