We wish you success in your efforts to better your district. The District Deputy Reminder is a monthly newsletter designed to keep you informed of important dates, as well as upcoming Orderwide programs and other useful information. If you would like the District Deputy Reminder e-mailed to you on a monthly basis, please send an e-mail to [email protected] and we will add your e-mail address to the monthly distribution list. R emember to reach out to each grand knight in your district, if you haven’t already done so, to lay the foundation for your relationship with him during the fraternal year. Offer yourself as a resource for any questions he may have during the year. Communication between the grand knights in your district and yourself is key — communicate early and often. NEW YEAR — NEW INCENTIVES KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FAMILY WEEK T he World Series of Membership is underway! Between July 1, 2014 and September 30, 2014, hold a first degree in your district each month and win 5,000 VIP points. Hold more than three degrees in your district during the July - September timeframe and receive 2,500 VIP points for each additional degree. For each additional degree, your name will be entered into a drawing for one of 40 full-size personalized Louisville Slugger ® bats. To qualify, file the District Deputy’s Degree Exemplification Report (#450) for each degree by October 10, 2014. The report is located at kofc.org/forms and can be filed electronically. District Deputy D uring Knights of Columbus Family Week, August 10-17, 2014, encourage Knights and their families to choose the Holy Family as their model of interdependence, sharing and respect for each other. Celebrate all aspects of the family, which is the foundation of society and of fundamental importance to the Knights of Columbus, by sponsoring council programs that reach people in whatever state of family development they may be in, such as: Children: Sponsor a family picnic or pizza party with games, sports, music, etc. Parents: Invite a speaker to your council to discuss issues for parents of different age groups of children and teens Grandparents, the Aged, or the Infirm: Encourage Knights and their family members to visit a convalescent home or veterans’ facility Each family week activity is an opportunity to invite prospects to join a council in your district. COUNCIL REMINDERS R emind the councils in your district that there are two important reports that must be submitted in order for council officers and committee chairmen to receive information from the Supreme Council office as well as from your state council office. Amajority of jurisdictions will be conductingorganizational meetings for district deputies inJuly. As district deputy, you are an important

part of your state council. As such, you are expectedto attend the organizational meeting, the mid-yearmembership meeting, and the annual StateConvention. By taking an active role in your statecouncil, you will ensure a stronger future for eachcouncil in your district, your jurisdiction and theoverall good of the Order.
