Dear parents, whanau and caregivers.

It has been wonderful to see your children settle back into normal school work over the last two weeks. The school is full of happy and engaged students who have enjoyed reconnecting with their friends. It has been particularly pleasing to see our senior students supporting younger ones around the school. Showing leadership like this reflects our school values.

A big welcome to our new students who have started this week. Riley King and Zoe Pugh. It is so nice seeing their excitement on the first day.

We are looking forward to having parents back on the school site once we get more advice from MOH and MOE. Until then, thank you to everyone for continuing to drop off and pick up from the gate.

This term we have a science focus on space. I have been very impressed with quality of writing coming from students. There have been creative space stories along with interesting factual reports about our solar system. Keep up the good work kids.

The school council met with me last Wednesday. It looks like they are going to have a productive year of organising events and projects that will benefit our school. Congratulations to Daniel Slab-bert who was voted in as Chairperson and Holly Gutterson who was voted in as Secretary. The rest of the council consists of Amelia-Rose Hape R1, Alex Jessen R1, Olsyn Yearbury R2, Anna-beth Riley R2, Ethan Procter R3, Jack McBeth R3, Alex Boys R4 and Lucan Clay R4.

A big congratulations to Ethan and Zac Procter for winning the Principals Hut Challenge during lock-down. Your hut was amazing and lots of time and effort was put into its construction.

Thank you again for all your support during this

time of transition.

Nga mihi nui,

Yaron Overeem, Principal.

Collect Yummy Stickers

If you buy ‘Yummy’ branded fruit (sold at New World, Pak’n’Save and FourSquare) collect the stickers or bag labels and the school can exchange them for new sports equipment each year. Just send them along stuck on a piece of paper, preferably in 100 lots and we will send them in when they are due. Thanks.

Northfuel’s customers can nominate our school so we receive 50 cents for every 1 00L of bulk fuel you have delivered. So as you keep your wheels turning you are giving back to your local community too. Once we reach the $1,000 target we can redeem from the 40 plus technology and sports packages on offer. It’s just that simple. The more people involved and nominating our school, the sooner we will be rewarded. A HUGE thanks to McBeth’s, Gutterson’s, Barge’s, Kokich’s and McCardle’s who already sponsor us.
