I really enjoy the month of April as it has one of the longest holiday periods in the year. April is the month where many people return home to visit family or take personal vacations. I enjoy my work so much, sometimes think that every day is a holiday. So why do I need to wait for a holiday? For others, it depends on that person’s

heart; perhaps they work physically hard or are doing a job that does fulfill them. It is these holidays that give them the break and family time they need. For others, holiday time is for travelling or catching up on other projects around the home. Whatever the reason, holiday’s mean time off from work and it is this that makes us happy. In this edition, we invited some of Phukets outstanding models to have fun and splash around a little. Our shoot takes us to the top of the island to the world class facility, Splash Jungle Water park. Our day was kept full with entertainment, rides and events. With everything that was going on we still managed to keep the zest and loveliness of our shots for our readers’ enjoyment. Also in this edition, we will feature well known tourist areas but with more of a romantic feel. Have you noticed that when you feel happy everything in your life goes on perfectly? Many people feel that by waiting, or a chance event or fate will bring them happiness. But more times than not, they miss opportunities that others took. Start with peace of mind; suffering, worrying and confusion are distractions to our well being. Start by doing what makes you happy and content. As your positive demeanor shines through, negative elements in your life will be put aside and your trouble and worries will be behind you. You will wake up every day knowing that the sun will be shining.

The Columbia Trail Master 2012 held its second annual event on May 6 at Thanyapura Sports & Leisure Club (TSLC). The nature adventure race had four classes, half marathon, 21.5km, 10km and a 3km fun run, saw the participants navigating through mud laden trails, water obstacles and steep inclines. The winner of this year’s event received a trophy and collection of Columbia brand items.

The Pho-Thong Bus Rally for Reforestation. Phuket – Phangnga (Baan Bang-pat)On March 25, 2012, Kon Phuket Magazine along with local sponsors participated in a public awareness campaign & rally for the importance of our local natural resources and ecosystem. Using the Pho-thong bus, “Songthaew”, over 100 people from Phuket and nearby provinces attended the rally enjoying games and hunting for treasures to increase ones team score. After planting new mangroves the teams enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner at Baan Bang-pat where the winning teams received prizes and all attendants received gifts. Despite only being a one day event, all participants had a won-derful time and left with new found knowledge of the importance of our local ecosystem and that they helped in the conservation of our natural environment.

This is just a sampling of the vast variety of Chinese delicacies to be had. Too close off a wonderful dinner, a dessert of ginkgo with fresh milk and a special snow taro. This dish is generally only eaten once per year but at The Krua Teochew it is served year round. A catering service brings The Krua Teochew restaurant to weddings, birthdays or any special events. S aphan Hin Bridge: The Spirit of Phuket. Saphan Hin (Stone Bridge) is part of Phuket history. Originally a port used by tin dredgers, the area derived its name from a road made with piles of stones running down the beach to be used by the dredger crews boarding small boats to take them out to the

dredgers moored at sea. Old Phuket Town residents sometimes re-fer to Saphan Hin as the Vien-hoy traffic circle. S arasin Bridge: A legend of true love. Prior to The Sarasin Bridge being built in 1970, ferries were used to connect Phuket Is-land to the mainland. A tragic true love sto-ry was created out of the Sarasin Bridge. A

young college student and the driver of the bus used to bring her to school became hopelessly in love. Despite her father attempts to break their bonds they were drawn even closer. As it became apparent that her family may succeed in pulling the lovers apart, they sealed there love togeth-er forever and ended their lives at the Sarasin Bridge. A tragic love story to carry them into their next lives leaving the people around them stunned and most of all a father that their forbidden love they had so desperately tried to escaped from. So strong was this story that a national film was writ-ten and produced. Today the original Sarasin Bridge has been renovated and is now only accessi-ble by foot. K on Phuket Magazine Edition 21 welcomes the summer season by taking the whole team to Splash Jungle Water Park in Mai-Khao District. Splash Jungle Water Park is the only water amusement park in Phuket. In this edition we have the privilege of working with Kristy Green, a young beautiful model from Phuket Top

Model. Sunshine, blue sky’s, and water park fun, we all had a wonderful day shooting in some of the latest summer fashions by Roxy clothier from Jungceylon Mall in Patong. We started the photo shoot featuring a more casual style of Roxy with an emphasis on cuteness. We then turned up the heat a little and took to the water with Roxy sexy collection. The day came to an end with model wearing a beach dress overtop a colorful bikini. Sweet and innocent was the theme, but things seemed a little hotter than usual and it was not because of the afternoon sun. Big thanks to the Kon Phuket team for putting together this shoot for our readers.

A s we walked through the doors of Phuket Top Model agency we were greeted by Khun Pop (Nantasak Keawprakarn), in the foreground was today’s class of 7 to 11 year old

students practicing their runway walk style. This group had already worked through the

personality development course and now was getting groomed to do one of the most important

aspects of every models career, the runway walk. The atmosphere was full of fun and enjoyment and

the aspiring young models were eager to learn. We then turned our attention to the more serious side of Phuket Top Model, the classes for girls ages 12 and over. These classes are divided into 3 levels, begin-ner, middle and professional. It is in these classes that students hone their skills in walking and presentation of clothing styles. After watching the girls go through their paces we moved onto the boys’ classes. This class was equally entertaining in watching the aspiring GQ, Men’s Health and Esquire models show their softer side. The whole time Pop was there to display various techniques and mentor the up and coming models.

We sat down with Khun Pop to gain some history and insight to what makes Phuket Top Model an industry leader. The most important aspect is that both the students and the teachers are willing and commit-ted to learning. In this ever changing industry you must willing to embark in a lifelong learning commitment. Khun Pop then went on to tell us that is all started 3 years ago when he had the opportunity to send Sophia to the Miss Hard Rock contest. When they first met Sophia was a shy and not overly confident girl. He could teach the mechanics of modeling but it was her personality that needed to shine through. The hard work and long hours paid off as Sophia went on to win the title of Miss Hard Rock. It was this experience that confirmed what Khun Pop had suspected. Personality development and stage presence was the key to success. It was now time for Khun Pop to go back to school to further refine the skills and knowledge that would mold and groom fu-ture students. From that first day to the present day classrooms, young people to adults have gained the personality development and modeling experience that can take them into successful careers whether it is in modeling, business or family life. The essence of the knowledge you learn here will guide you down the runway of life.

Russarin Banlangpo or Khun Ooy (the makeup artist) is one person that found herself and broke out. In the time that Khun Ooy has worked with Kon Phuket Magazine, we can see her passion and the wealth of experience she brings to her profession. It all began by chance while in the hotel industry; Khun Ooy would do the makeup for hotel staff that did not have the time or friends that only would do the basics as they lacked the skill or creativity. She loved this kind of work and dreamed of venturing out onto her own. As the passion inside her grew, she made the decision to leave her employer and enrolled with a recognized institution to learn and be mentored by the industries top artists and designers.
