More students from Mrs Morrish’s 2M class completing some outstanding work again! Congratulations to Tyler Flemming and Beau Robertson on completing some difficult work in Mathematics. Tyler and Beau demonstrated the doubling strategies for ones, fives

and tens. Both boys were proud of their achievements. !While on the Mathematics front, Ella Howard, Jordanna Winter, Emmielle Kingdom, Riley Brown and Byron Lees of Year 4 have been learning about fractions. All students are able to identify fractions and their equivalents. I may be a little biased, but I do think they had a fantastic teacher for their first lesson! Thank you Mrs Bartlett for sending these wonderful students my way.

Joshua Thompson, Naomi Maybury and Isaiah Daley-Cutmore of Mrs Lawrence’s KLR class have also been excelling in the area of Mathematics. Joshua, Naomi and Isaiah were able to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of more than and less than. A f te r be ing in the Kindergarten classroom on several occasions, I know just how hard our s t u d e n t s a r e w o r k i n g a n d progressing in their learning. Keep up the hard work! !Spelling and dictation have been the order of the day for many of our classes, especially Mrs Simpson’s 2/3S and Mrs Chegwyn’s 1CR. Boston De Belle, Cohen Parkes, Jack Chapple, Bodin Wallace, Jessica Wheatley, Savannah Barber, Montana Winter, Jaeda Symons and Megan Johnson of 2/3S excelled in their spelling and dictation assessment last Friday. Sophie Howard of 1CR attained 100% in her recent spelling assessment. Well done to all students. ! !

Izabel la Vernon of 2/3S continues to impress with her consistent and neat bookwork. Izabella’s handwriting is just lovely. She is able to join letters precisely and prides herself in keeping outstanding workbooks. Keep up the good work Izabella! !!

More students of 2/3S – Will Heeney, Boston De Belle, Megan Bubb, Jessica Wheatley, Izabella Vernon and Megan Johnson. !!

Reports are coming thick and fast! Our student reports are currently with our executive teachers and soon they will be ready for my perusal. I can’t tell you how glad I am to soon be reading of our students and their progress since the commencement of the school year. Our school, like all other Department of Education and Communities schools, uses the descriptors of Outstanding to Limited as the reporting scale. The use of the descriptors demonstrates how well your child has achieved the outcomes assessed in relation to where students are expected to achieve for their school year level. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. !

I believe the greatest skill one person can bestow on another is the ability to read. Mrs Doak is in her training year of Reading Recovery. Reading Recovery is a NSW Government approved and supported program that is designed to promote literacy learning. Mrs Doak is pictured here working with Kobi Murray. Kobi read a special book about a boy called Ben and his dinosaur birthday cake. This was special as it was Kobi’s birthday that day. Congratulations Kobi and thank you for sharing your reading with me. Thank you also to Mrs Doak for her continuing support of our students. !Kootingal Public School would like to wish Mrs Eryn Kelly all the best while she is on maternity leave. In her absence, Mrs Jan Bartlett has been employed for two and half days and Mrs Kerrie Ardill has come from Nemingha Public School for the other two days. Mrs Ardill has been working as our Learning and Support Teacher on a Monday and Tuesday and this work has now extended to Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our model of Learning and Support across the school is still in construction but, with the extension of Mrs Ardill’s days to four days per week, this will ensure that we are well on our way to best supporting our students under the new model from the Department of Education and Communities (DEC). Welcome to both teachers and we can’t wait for news on the newest member of the Kelly family. !School photos are next Tuesday 17th June. This is an important day and one that students and families alike can reflect upon in the coming years when looking at old school photos. Students are required to be in full winter school uniform including tie and black shoes. If you have any concerns regarding uniform requirements, please do not hesitate to contact the school prior to the day. Please note that the Kootingal Public School Uniform Policy states that the girls official winter school uniform is the tunic, not the slacks. A reminder that all photo money needs to be returned to the front office by Monday 16th June.

Well done to Toby Taggart who last week represented Kootingal Public School and North West at the PSSA 11 years Rugby League carnival in Cronulla. After my discussion with Toby, it is clear to see that he really enjoyed his time in Cronulla and competing in this carnival. Toby told me North West drew one game and lost the remaining four. However, they were all close games. Toby said that he felt his best game was against the toughest and best team, Sydney South West. Congratulations Toby on representing Kootingal Public School and North West with pride! Until next week. !!!!

As I mentioned in last week’s newsletter, now is a good time to be considering your options for music tuition for term 3. Below I have included a slip for you to use to indicate your intent to participate in private music tuition in term 3. It really helps to get everything finalised before the beginning of next term so we can start straight up in week 1. My aim is to keep groups at no more than 4 students. Please help me by considering a placement for your child / ren early so I can book tutors times and make up lesson groups. Students are encouraged to continue tuition in their instrument from this term, however you do have the option of swapping. A tuition fee of $100 will be due in week 1 of term 3. Details of tutors accounts will be in next week’s newsletter.

*** New students are always welcomed!***
