Every manufacturer will supply the raw lumen figure their light produces, but many won’t supply the lux readings.

Quite simply, lumens provide a figure of the total amount of light being produced. Lux, on the other hand, measures the intensity of the light.

So while a light may have high lumens and offer fantastic spread of light, if the lux

readings are low, there won’t be enough grunt to actually see much at all.

There are technical methods of measuring both lumens and lux. A light integrating sphere accurately records lumens, while lux is measured with a far simpler device (oddly enough) called a lux meter or a laboratory goniometer.

KORR® has contracted QUT PHOTOMETRIC LABORATORY to independently test the axis lux measurements of illumination levels of each light for the new XD range of light bars.

While LED Light science has existed since the early 1960s, it has only been in the past few years that technology has advanced to the point whereby LEDs can now used effectively as Driving Lights.

LED lights can last up to 50 times longer than conventional globes, with an average lifespan between 30,000 and 50,000 hours. This not only makes them easier to handle, but it also generates significantly less wasted energy. LEDs are also slow failure lights, which means that unlike incandescent bulbs that will be burn out abruptly and without warning, LEDs fail over time, slowly dimming so you have plenty of warning when the time comes to replace them.

With many manufacturers now selling 4WDs with bull bars already installed, the need for compact, high-powered LED Driving Lights has never been more relevant than now.

KORR® has developed the new “XD Series”, which features intense light powered by a new German OSRAM chip. The new developments are backed up with the latest design in reflector technology, which then enables these lights to throw light twice as far, using half the power.

Never has there been such dramatic gains in technology. LED Driving Lights are now as good, if not better than your HID Driving Lights. Wider, whiter, longer and less power than ever before, the “XD Series” Driving Lights will set the benchmark for performance and price.

Why OSRAM? Without going into too much detail, the OSRAM chip has a domed surface area that pushes the light onto the reflector, magnifying the light a lot like a mirror would do. This sort of light output would normally use three times the power to get same results.

The XD120 is the latest edition to the KORR® range. This would be one of the most powerful lights of its size on the market, with one major benefit; no relay or wiring harness required. Designed for the average sedan or SUV, there is now a lightweight alternative that can be fixed to your bumper, with the ability to wire directly into your high beam. The market now features a pair of lights that are small, lightweight, have a very low power draw, and in most cases, can be used off your high beam connection, so no need to worry whether it will drain the battery or if you have a big enough alternator.
