IOW
Integrity Operation Window, IOW, is another an integral part of any asset integrity program.
The concept is to define different operational parameters, such as operating pressure,
temperature and pH, which are pivotal to trigger and/or promote a damage mechanism. Once
such parameters for different pressure retaining components are defined, their priorities,
whether critical, standard or informational, to be determined. Then, their upper and/or lower
margins, with regard to the damage mechanism, should be specified. At the final stage these
operational parameters should be recorded and monitored continuously and their deviations
from allowed values have to be reported as different levels of alarms or anomalies. In fact,
IOW improves predictive accuracy towards the degradation of assets as it facilitates the
collection, retention and analysis of operation variable data. It provides early warnings when
a pre-defined operating variable’s boundaries are exceeded, increasing productivity by
allowing constant awareness of whether a variable is operating outside defined parameters.
Our special team provide tools in PI software to fulfill this requirement in a very easy way and
omit heavy data gathering & risk of any human errors. By determining the operating conditions
in which a particular asset is likely to fail, we can program our software to collect these data
from DCS, laboratory excel file results or even from manual data entry; and then, set limits on
these data to produce alarms and notifications in case a criterion is exceeded.
