BIOKristie Kirk, a shy southern beauty raised in the Church ofGod in Christ, began her freshman year of high school, shehad dreams of becoming a dancer. However, her olderbrother Ralph had different plans for his little sister.

Kristie had been singing in local churches since the age offour when her uncle Robert taught her to sing her first song;but she saw singing, as more of a personal joy - notsomething to be showcased. Singing was just a way to makeher day better.

At her brother's insistence, she joined the DeSoto HighSchool Gospel Choir (DeSoto, Texas) and entered her firstcompetition. She led the choir in a rendition of I Told theStorm, by Greg O'Quinn. The choir won the competition andKristie was named best lead vocalist.

Since that time, Kristie has traveled all over the state ofTexas dazzling audiences with her range and spirit; and shehas succeeded in building a solid regional fan base. Now, allgrown up and a lot less shy, this young Texan is ready to takethe gospel industry by storm.

BIOUnique, electrifying, and inspiring are all words that can be used todescribe Kristie's vocal ability. She comes across strong and clear with avoice that far surpasses her years.

With musical influences like Kim Burrell, Mary Mary, Karen and DorindaClark, Tonèx, Faith Evans, Ella Fitzgerald, India Arie, Jill Scott, Bilal, andAngie Stone, Kristie easily mixes the old with new creating a sound that isall her own.

On her highly anticipated 2009 Living Waters Entertainment release,Shine, Kristie worked with the hottest producers Dallas has to offer,including Robert “Sput” Searight, Deonis Cook, Candy West, TavaresGardner, Kermit Wells, G. Craig Lewis (EX Sound), and Tight EyesProductions.

With additional tracks produced by Chicago’s own Montage Pheloan,lyrics written by Kayla Parker and the support of family and friends,Kristie is poised to take her place among the stars. When asked abouther choice to pursue Gospel Music, Kristie replied, “Gospel Music is who Iam; it satisfies my spirit.”

Q: How were you raised and howhas that impacted your career?Kristie: I grew up in the church andwith a family full of singers andmusicians. To see the kind of impactmusic has on people’s lives is whatinspires me.

What sound can we expect from thealbum?The sound you can expect from thisalbum is more of acontemporary/urban style.

Which songs on the album are yourfavorite?I would say my favorite songs on thealbum are Get Through, Lovin’ Me

and Shine. It would still be a harddecision considering I like them all.

What music artists inspire you?The artists that inspire me are KimBurrell, Clark Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald,Brandy, Chaka Khan.... etc. This listgoes on.

Tell us something interesting/funnyabout you that we would neverguess?I’m goofy and sarcastic in a funnyway. That's all I can say about methat most don't know.

Why pursue a singing career?I can’t imagine doing anything else.

This is why God placed me here andin this position, to inspire othersthough my singing and music. Nomatter how my day begins, singingand writing is what turns it aroundfor the good.
