Kristin Armstrong was born in

1973 in a military family, her

father in fact was an officer in

the Marines.

Prior to her professional

cycling career, when she was 17

years old, she had became a

Junior Olympian in the

swimming. She was also a

triathlete and she competed in

the Hawaii Ironman World

Championships.

Her career in the triathlonended when it wasdiagnosed a osteoarthritis,that causes a degenerationand deformation of all joints.However her sport careercontinued, she couldn’t runanymore, but she couldcycle. The cycling wasconsidered for her the besttherapy for her disease.
