OPERATIONAL CHALLENGEThe facility’s waste water treatment plant wasat risk of being shut down due to not meetinglocal publicly owned treatment works (POTW)compliance standards. The plant was not ableto implement a treatment approach with theexisting equipment to remove the hazardousmaterial from the waste stream. Failure tocomply would result in loss of the plant’sPOTW permit.

BOTTOM-LINE RESULTSLoss of the plant’s POTW permit would have caused the facility to shut down and suspend 320 jobs. The treatment approachKroff implemented was able to effectively remove waste solids so the waste stream was approved to be discharged. The plant can now produce at a faster rate without the fear of the local POTW shutting the facility down.
