Sponsorship Proposal

BACKGROUND

The Kula Awards enters its 13th year in 2018 and Film Fiji is

planning an even bigger event. The competition has successfully grown to become an important and much awaited event in the calendar of activities for high schools around the country. Film Fiji will once again host this event to continue the development of the audio visual industry in the country and to give students the opportunity to learn about and gain experience in the creative arts industry.

In 2018, we will continue to take filmmaking to international levels through professional training by international filmmakers. Training for dance and art will also continue to be provided by experts in the fields. The awards nights will be a production of high standard with celebrity and dignitary guest appearances.

COMPETITION FORMAT

Kula Film Awards

There are 2 categories in the Kula Film Awards.

Schools

Students in secondary schools are invited to make a short film in any genre they choose. Film Fiji will vet the scripts for appropriateness before giving approval for production.

The school entries will be judged for:

1. Best Film 2. Best Director 3. Best Actor 4. Best Supporting Actor 5. Best Actress 6. Best Supporting Actress 7. Best Script 8. Best Cinematography 9. Best Sound 10.Best Original Score 11.Best Set & Art Design 12.Best Costume & Makeup 13.Most Popular Film 14.Best Film Poster

Open

The “Open Category” which is targeted at budding filmmakers who

have left school and want to continue with their film making passion.

In the past, entries have been received from foreign filmmakers.

These films will be judged separately. The Open Category honours

the Best Film and two Achievement Awards.

Kula Dance Competition

Secondary schools are invited to participate in the Kula Dance Competition by performing a 5-8 minute fusion of song and dance reflecting the cultures of Fiji. The challenge is for schools to create something new and different.

Schools will be awarded prizes in the following categories:

1. Best Dance Group—Winner 2. Best Dance Group - 1st Runner Up 3. Best Dance Group - 2nd Runner Up 4. The Fiji Link Award 5. The Fiji Link Award 6. Best Female Dancer—Winner 7. Best Female Dancer - 1st Runner Up 8. Best Male Dancer—Winner 9. Best Male Dancer - 1st Runner Up 10. Most Popular Dance Group 11. Best Costume 12. Best Choreography

Kula Art Awards

Students are invited to paint or draw based on a certain theme. The last competition had almost 200 entries from 25 schools after which over 50 students were selected as finalists.

Following the same format as the last competition, the finalists will attend a one-day workshop and will be given all required materials to submit a final piece of artwork for judging by a panel. All submis-sions will be judged based on originality, creativity, theme and exe-cution.

Schools will be awarded prizes in the following categories:

1. Most Popular Art 2. Best Painting—Winner 3. Best Painting—Runner Up 4. Best Drawing—Winner 5. Best Drawing—Runner Up 6. Best Innovative Art—Winner 7. Best Innovative Art—Runner Up

Film Fiji’s vast social media reach in 2017 While traditional media is used to create awareness of the event, the real success of the Kula Awards is driven by Film Fiji’s social media strategy. Being able to communicate directly with the audience resulted in massive awareness and a huge turnout on the awards nights. Film Fiji’s Kula Awards Facebook page has over 42,000 followers and in 2017, it recorded 102 posts from March to September which also included 29 videos.

By the end of the Kula Awards campaign, the Film Fiji Facebook page had a total of:

59,338 post likes 804,769 video views 5,978 shares 2,349,425 audience reach

While the event is targeted at and driven by high schools students, half of the engaged audience lies in the key 18-24 demographic, with 24% of the total audience in the 18-34 demographic.

Naming Rights Sponsorship

You may become the main sponsor of any of the Kula Awards streams with full naming rights. The sponsorship value of this is:

Kula Film Awards - $50,000

Kula Dance Competition - $30,000

Kula Art Awards - $15,000

Associated benefits will include: Naming Rights to the Kula Film Competition The main award (first prize) of the competition will be named after your

organization Signage and banners will be displayed at the Awards venue featuring your

company logo. Large company logo will feature on all printed material. All entries for the film awards will be shown on TV and published on our

social media sites, which has massive following, giving the organisation additional mileage

All traditional and social media advertising will mention your organisation as the naming rights sponsor.

Through press releases and interviews we will ensure maximum press coverage of your sponsorship

Continuous mention of your sponsorship by the host on the event night Free tickets (number to be determined) will be given to your staff for the

Awards functions and associated events Flexibility will be given to the organization to host related promotions

throughout the competition period and sales at the Awards venue. Copies of the event will be distributed and will feature the company name/

logo The organisation will also be welcome to accompany Film Fiji staff on

school visits and training sessions. This will be a nation-wide drive to visit as many schools in Fiji as possible from February to April 2018.

Sponsorship of Individual Categories You may also sponsor any of the various Awards in the film competition. The sponsorship value of this is $6,000 per Award category for the film competition.
