Conceptual Database Design
• At the conceptual level, the main concern is with specifying unified description of the entire database which is implementation independent.
• Outputs: The Entity-
Category-Relationship (E-C-R) Diagram
Logical Database Design
• At the logical level of the database design, the appropriate data model for the database is chosen and its rules are enforced.
• Outputs:• Database contents• Layers Description• Data Model: RDBMS
Physical Database Design
• The physical level of database design is concerned with the actual storage structure for data and with the algorithmic details of storing and searching on hardware devices.
• Outputs:•Detailed design and data dictionary•Data conversion specifications: data
format, naming convention, coordinates system, symbol sets, etc.
