John O'Conor has been gathering wonderful reviews for his masterly playing for over fifty years.Having studied in his native Dublin, in Vienna with Dieter Weber and being tutored by thelegendary Wilhelm Kempff, his unanimous 1st Prize at the International Beethoven PianoCompetition in Vienna in 1973 opened the door to a career that has brought him all around theworld.

He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras including the London Symphony,Royal Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, l'Orchestre National de France, theNHK Orchestra in Japan and the Atlanta, Cleveland, San Francisco, Dallas, Montreal and DetroitSymphonies in North America. He has given concerts in many of the world's most famous hallsincluding Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington,the Wigmore Hall and South Bank Centre in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Dvorak Hallin Prague, the Seoul Arts Centre, and the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo. He enjoys collaborating inLieder recitals and performing chamber music with many renowned quartets.

His recordings of the complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas led CD Review to say that he "by nowshould be recognised as the world's premier Beethoven interpreter" and his recent recordings ofthe complete Beethoven Piano Concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra and Andreas Delfshave also been greeted with acclaim. In the past two years he has released three new CDs on theSteinway label, one of Beethoven's Diabelli Variations and two of Haydn Sonatas. He has also beenfeatured on tonebase.com with videos on teaching and discussing Beethoven and Haydn Sonatas.

A Steinway Artist, he is Chair of the Piano Division at Shenandoah University in Virginia, Professorof Piano at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and VisitingProfessor at Showa University in Japan. For his services to music he has been decorated "Officierde l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" by the French Government, awarded the "Ehrenkreuz fürWissenschaft und Kunst" by the Austrian Government, the "Order of the Rising Sun" by theEmperor of Japan, and has received many other awards.

15-year-old piano prodigy Joe O’Grady has been playing the piano for 12 years.Born in Dublin from Chinese/Irish parents he has been studying with JohnO’Conor since the age of 6 and now also studies with Hugh Tinney at the RoyalIrish Academy of Music.

He has had remarkable success at piano competitions winning 1st Prize atalmost all the competitions at the Feis Ceoil in Dublin, Ireland’s national musiccompetition. He has also performed widely at the National Concert Hall inDublin, at the Royal Dublin Society Rising Stars series and many other specialevents including the launch of the Chinese New Year Festival at the Hugh LaneGallery organised by Dublin City Council, the China meets Ireland event at BirrCastle, the Russian Music Festival in Dublin, the launch of the Music for Galwayseason at the Swiss Embassy in Dublin, the launch of the New Ross festival,fundraising concerts for the Dublin International Piano Competition at theWestbury Hotel , and in Dublin Castle as part of the Great Music in Irish HousesFestival.

His concerto appearances include playing with the RIAM Chamber Orchestra inTrinity College Dublin and in University College Dublin’s Astra Hall with theRIAM Symphony Orchestra. At the age of 9 he made his American debut in NewYork performing with the New York Concerto Sinfonietta at Carnegie Hall.

Already this year he has won both the junior sonata and concerto cups at theFeis Ceoil in Dublin, the Ursula Ni Chuinneagain Bursary for Young Pianists, theLucien and Maura Teissier Scholarship and has been chosen as a member of theWilliam Finlay programme for Gifted Young Pianists by the DublinInternational Piano Competition.
