Saint Patrick is the patronsaint of Ireland. He was born inRoman England in 387 AD andwas the son of a Christian Deacon.At the age of 16 he was sold intoslavery by a group of Irish raiders

who attacked his village. Duringhis captivity in Ireland he reportedto have heard God speaking tohim in his dreams. It is believedthat this is where he rst had hisepiphany of converting the Irish toChristianity. After 6 years St. Patrickescaped home to his family. Later,

he travelled to a French monasterywhere he studied for twelve years,before returning to Ireland tocomplete his mission.

He travelled throughout Ireland,establishing monasteries, churchesand schools to Christianize the

country. He carried out his missionin Ireland for thirty years and diedon March 17 in AD 461. Since then,that day has been commemoratedas Saint Patrick’s Day

A shamrock was used by Patrick toexplain the Mystery of the Blessed

Trinity to the Ancient High Kings ofIreland.

casa con su familia. Más tarde, viajóa un monasterio francés dondeestudió durante doce años, antesde volver a Irlanda a completar sumisión.

Viajó por toda Irlanda estableciendomonasterios, iglesias y escuelas

para cristianizar el país. Llevó a cabosu misión en Irlanda durante treintaaños y murió el 17 de marzo de 461a.C. Desde entonces, ese día ha sidoconmemorado como el día de SanPatricio.

You have to follow 3 steps

to pour a perfect pint of Guinness:POUR, SETTLE and TOP IT OFF

1) Pour the beer at a 45 degree angle. The angle is important for the nalappearance and presentation. Youcan put the spout inside the glass,but as the beer starts to ow, don’t

allow it to touch the spout. Pour it upto about ¾ full.

2) Then leave it settle for about twominutes

3) Once the beer has come to rest, thethird step is the most important one

to present the pint. You have to topit up drawing a shamrock by movingthe glass in the shape of the leaf asthe beer poured. You’ll see how thetrickle of beer that comes from thespout draws the Shamrock’s leaveson the top of the froth. Try to do itand, as it’s said in Ireland “ll the pint

until the head is proud of the glass”

perfecta pinta de Guinness: VERTER,REPOSAR y LLENAR HASTA EL BORDE

1) Vierte la cerveza con un ángulo de 45grados. El ángulo es importante parala apariencia nal y la presentación.Puedes poner el caño dentro del vaso, pero cuando la cerveza empiece a caer,

no permitas que toque el grifo. Viértelahasta llenar unas ¾ partes del vaso.

2) Después déjala reposar duranteunos dos minutos.

3) Una vez que la cerveza ha reposado,el tercer paso es el más importante

para presentar la pinta. Tienesque rellenarla dibujando un trébolmoviendo el vaso con la forma de lahoja según va cayendo la cerveza.Verás cómo el chorro de cervezaque viene del grifo dibuja las hojasdel trébol en la parte de arriba de laespuma. Prueba a hacerlo y, como se

dice en Irlanda, “rellena la pinta hastaque la espuma esté orgullosa del vaso”
