Dear ~·f/~'The. Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has instituted National Adventure Awards called

"Tenzing No-gay National Adventure Award" in order to recognise the achievements of personsassociated in the field of adventure.

2. Ordinarily, one award each is conferred for adventure activities on land, sea and air. Inaddition, a provision has also been made for giving one award for "Life Time Achievement" in the fieldo!~~1d~en\ure. Salient features of tile Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award -

Ordinarily not more than one Award each \ViII be made for adventure activities on Land,..• Sell and Air. A lifetime achievement award may also be conferred in a YCiJL This

Ministry may increase the number of awards in a particular year for specific reasonsrecorded in writing and with the approval of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.Entries will be received in a pro-forma giving the past performances of the personsrecommended in general and for the- year of the Award in particular within such date as isspecified on year to year basis. The last date uf entry may be relaxed at the discretion ofthe Government of India in e-xceptional cases.Government of India will set up a Special Comnuuee 10 scrutinize all the entries receivedas ebove and make its recommendations 10 a National Selection Committee to be headedby the Minister (Youth Affairs and Sports).To be eligible for the Award, a person should have excellent performance and haveoutstanding qualities of leadership: a sense of adventure discipline.The decision of the Government of India in respect ofthe Award will be final.The Award will consist of:

o A bronze statuette:c A certificate;o A blazer with a silken tie/a saree;o A cash award of Rs.5,OO.OOO/~ or the same amount as for Arjuna Award for that

particular year. (The Awards will be presented to the winners along with ArjunA wards by the Government ofIndia)

The A wardees will be reimbursed to and fro air fare and such other fare of conveyance asrelevant in the journey through shortest route from his/her place or stay to the place ofaward ceremony and back:Awardees vill also be provided free board and lodging in a suitable place fer-theaward ceremony;During their stay the ewardees will be provided 25% of the admissible DA. They willalso be provided journey DA as admissible; andOne companion with each lady and physically handicapped awardee will be providedwith same travelling and boardllodginglDA facilities as that of the awardeeherself/himselfCanvassing in any form in respect of (lny entry will render that entry liable to bedisqualified.No award wiUbe made for a second time to the same person under same category.The award may be given posthumously if such an occasion arises.Go-••ernmem of India may cancel or annul the award to any person and circumstanceswhich in the opinion of the Govemmem might render such person unworthy of the awardand thereupon the recipient shall be required to surrender [he Statuette and the scroll ofhonour. However. the Government of India may restore the award if it decides towithdraw the cancellation or annulment.The decision of the Government of India in respect of interpretation of these rules shallbe final and no appeal shall lie against them.A person who is recommended for the Award shall be deemed to have accepted theseRules.
